I agree with the folks who say Navi is behaving normally In the dog world, whoever has an item 'owns' it for as long as they have it. When they leave it behind, the next dog that picks it up 'owns' it. So, in Navi's mind, she was protecting her things, not stealing from Maya.

Also, the fact that Navi is baring her teeth, ducking her head and air-snapping are all really, really nice. I know they look ugly, but dogs that give great big warnings are fantastic, because they rarely have to resort to anything worse. Just like you saw, Maya got the hint and moved on.

^^^Exactly. It's the dogs that don't give warnings that are scary and dangerous. They just jump and bite. I would much rather have a dog that is giving all kinds of nasty faces and air snaps and even a little warning fur or skin grab, that way I know that dog is "speaking" correct dog language and is teaching my puppies how to act.

Navi is being a very good and tolerant girl.

Wait til they start playfighting in earnest!! You'll think they are trying to murder each other!!LOL
I think omguthrie has explained it perfectly. I always make sure that I either have enough chews for everyone or none at all out to avoid arguements. Although Chi's can be drama queens at times and one of mine likes to sit with a toy and give all the other cats and dogs the stinkeye whilst growling her head off! Needless to say nobody else even wants her toy!
