I used this method and it works like a charm! It usually leads to Jaxx licking me like crazy which I think is his way of apologizing. If he bites too hard again within that play time then I get up and walk away and go to another room for a few minutes. That way he figures out that if he bites me too hard multiple times I am going to quit playing.
It didn't take Jaxx very long at all to figure out how to just mouth instead of bite.
