Hi all,

Was hoping for some input. Previously I worked in pet supply and one of the options we offered families was a raw diet. Can you tell me your experience with chis? Would you recommend a raw diet?

I personally recommend raw when possible as an option for furkids. Each to their own and I respect people who disagree or prefer different methods. I feed my girl raw and couldn't be happier. I order from Hare Today for variety. She's done a complete turnaround since switching to raw from when she came to live with me. Put on needed weight, her skin issues cleared right up, the constant runny poo has stopped.

Right now she is eating goat with tripe and other organ meats and quail feet. She's not the first dog I've fed and preferred raw for with many obvious benifits. It can be pricey at a glance but considering her size and daily necessary intake of only a few ounces, its affordable when you break it down.

Thanks for the feedback!! Very much appreciated! Living in central Alberta, I'm finding it a bit of a challenge to find a raw diet that I can get delivered or even source from a store..... will be looking into it in more detail though.

I had been previously taught that a raw diet is much better for the teeth as it doesn't "stick" like kibble does.

I have fed raw for 4 years now. Brody is doing great. We are in the middle of a very hectic time (moving across the country) so he has been on pre-mades (Stella and Chewy's, NV, K9 Natural) and the difference in output is astounding. He poops sometimes 3 times a day and he is not being overfed! Even on a high quality pre-made! Ugh. Can't wait to get back to full time raw. Where he has tiny little poops, no doggy odor, super clean teeth. Pre-mades are fine, but you can't beat the real thing!!!

Wow, Tracy what a difference!!! Toby eats ZP and 3-5 raw meals a week. Poops 1-2x a day, usually every other day he will go twice. I wonder how few poops I would have to deal with if he was on 100% fresh raw!

Ashley, Toby is a lucky boy! ZP and raw is an excellent diet!! I think that Brody's system is just not used to the premades. I can't even believe how much he has been pooping. He is a little poop machine. Crazy! I have some venison heart thawing and will get him back on raw in a few days once things calm down around here.
