Just wondering if anyone else has this problem and maybe how to solve it. I keep Ava in a playpen while I do housework and while she's in there she'll tear holes into her pee pad! She has plenty of toys in there with her so I don't quite understand why she does this. Even outside of her playpen she'll grab the edge of her pee pad and start trotting around the house with it, LOL. Any suggestions?

Minnie and Tootsie did this excact same thing when they were puppies. puppies love to chew up things. i finally discovered the washable pee pads and it solved the problem .

Washable? I haven't heard of those yet, where can I find them and how do they work? And does washing them make the washing machine smell funny?

they work just like the disposable kind. you just pick up the dog poop and flush it. i have not found that it makes the washing machine smell funny. the kind i use says you put alittle bleach in with the detergent.

there are alot of different places to get them. alot of people use the kind that are used in hospitals for people. so, there's places you can buy them really cheap.
i bought a more expensive kind called pooch pads. here's one site that has the kind i have

Oh yes the infamous potty pad chewing! Leo did this a lot when he was younger. I would keep him in a playpen, 1/2 for his bed and 1/2 for the potty pad. Anyway, I bought a potty pad holder and that solved the problem! I would come home to his pad completely shredded into pieces prior to finding the pad holder. Best of luck!

Well that sucks, I was thinkning about buying a pee pad tray thinking it would hold it in place. They can get pulled out that easily?

I'm going to check out those washable pee pads as well! I'll have to sneak wash them as I feel my boyfriend will protest me putting them in our washer

It is not any different than washing cloth diapers for kids, though I guess not many people do that any more. I mostly use disposables but I do have a couple of the washable kind. I run them through a quick cold water rinse before washing them to remove the excess urine and then add a little bleach with the detergent like Elaine suggested.

Umm...not to be gross (or state the obvious) but you do realize you put dirty clothes in the washer now, right? Sweaty workout stuff, stinky guy clothes, undergarments...you get the idea. You may not have kids but trust me anyone with kids has put pottied on or thrown up on sheets in there at 2 a.m.

I have not bought a disposable potty pad in about 2 years.

I agree with Elaine. Use bleach and you will never smell anything (but bleach) in your washer.
