Default What to do?

I worked all weekend, so Trevor was with Chloe most of the weekend. His parents came to visit and stayed Saturday night and most of the day on Sunday. They are usually very respectful of our rule about Chloe not eating people food. I spilled a big container of sugar cookies and apparently I missed one because Trevor's mom caught Chloe with one the next day while I was gone. She said she took it away from her. I'm hearing this all secondhand from Trevor, so I don't know how much of it she ate. Or if she really ate any. Trevor thinks she didn't eat much.

We also gave her a few bites of cooked turkey on Friday. We don't normally give her cooked meats but since we were celebrating thanksgiving we budged a little on our rules.

We also recently upped Chloe's ziwipeak because she looks very skinny. So, now she's pooping like crazy! She went 5 times yesterday and they were all big. Like even bigger poops than when she was on Fromm. I know this is supposed to be a great food, but I've yet to really see any improvement. So I'm kind of discouraged. Should we decrease her food? It seems like maybe were giving her too much now. Should we go back to what we were feeding or try something in between? We just have a really hard time keeping weight on her.

From my understanding if there is any change to diet it can take time for systems, especially little systems, to adjust.

When you say she is skinny, how skinny does she look? How many ribs can you see? What does her spine and hips look like?

I am looking at trying Ziwipeak with our little gal to but only because making fresh raw is not feasible with our rural location and fresh meat here is extraordinarily expensive. There was a wonderful link shared with me on my "Raw diet" thread that may prove helpful

Here is the raw recipe that was posted on my thread that I hope to use when we move.

Thank you, but I'm not interested in feeding raw full time. We do a couple of raw dinners a week for dental health. I can see several ribs on each side. I wasn't able to weigh her, but she was already thin and I could tell that she has lost more weight since she switched to Ziwipeak. I can tell she's closer to where she was since we've been feeding her more the last several days, but I can't keep feeding her this much extra food if she's going to be pooping such a ridiculous amount.

Maybe continue to feed the same amount of ZP but supplement with additional treats (carrots; bully sticks etc)

I can understand that.... and seeing several ribs on either side is definitely too thin. When I was speaking with a nutritionist with regards to our little gal she indicated that during the first week or two of switching to dehydrated we may see some weight loss as she adjusts.... Could it be too much of an increase too quickly? I don't know what to say I know for our's we are looking at the lamb Ziwipeak for starters and then moving on to venison. I will be watching this thread to see what the more experienced chi owners recommend.

That may work. But she already eats bully sticks. And I typically give ziwipeak as a treat for training, so that wouldn't really work. I haven't tried giving her carrots or green beans, so I don't know if she likes them. But I will go get some today to see. Isn't that typically for dogs that are trying to lose weight though? That's usually what I have seen them used for. I also don't know exactly what amount she needs to stay a healthy weight, but to also keep it where she doesn't poop a ridiculous amount. When we first started it, we were feeding too much, so she had huge poops. Then when we backed it down she got to skinny. Man it's frustrating! It almost makes me want to go back to Fromm. But I feel like we haven't tried this long enough. It's been 3 weeks. She hasn't had any tummy upset at all. But I feel bad for her since she's having to go to her pad so often.

What does she weigh and how much ZP are you feeding her?
