Crackers dislikes getting a bath home so I take him to get groomed once a month. He doesn't look dirty or anything between grooms, but I was wondering how often other people bath/groom their short haired chis. Thanks!

I work at a groomer and my little one goes with me. He is prone to dry skin that happens no matter how long we go between baths so lately it has been weekly oatmeal baths. They have helped a lot.

And of course if he gets into something foul he gets cleaned up.

It really depends on each individual dog and its lifestyle. But generally speaking,
the less the better. Every time you bathe, you strip natural oils off the dog. My
girls get four active long walks per day, they get dirty to say the least, but all I
do is wash their paws, bums, and bellies in lukewarm water after each walk,
without any soap/shampoo. If they didn't get dirty outside, then I simply take a
damp warm rag and wipe them gently head to toe. And they get their proper
baths every couple of months.

I bathe Toby every 6-8 weeks. In between he gets wiped with baby wipes or rinsed off. It's help keep his skin and fur beautiful and helps keep it from drying out.

Odie does not get bathed very often. She's such a clean dog that we barely ever need to wipe her off either, usually we just dry her off if she's in the snow unless she's been walking on salted cement. The only time we bath her is if she's been playing with other dogs and getting slobbered all over or when she had fleas (which was often but necessary). She avoids mud like the plague.

I give my babies a bath about every month or so. I invested in this shampoo and conditioner that my friend who owns a store said I can use as often as I would like, especially for Lola bc she licks her paws so I like to wash the allergens off her as often as I can. But generally speaking about every moth.

Thanks everyone. I take him on a walk, but he's walked on a street only, and I avoid the mud. Brush him every other day, but other then that he's groomed once a month.
