Jaxx used to be afraid of it. He would see Brock getting the vacuum out and he would run for his crate. I decided that we were going to work on it. It took a while but with a little time, patience, and love he now just sits on the back of the loveseat and watches as hubby vacuums the floors, which reminds me he was supposed to do that today and didn't!
I'm impressed that you desensitized Jaxx, but more importantly how did you train your hubby to vacuum?!
Stella just kinda watches it. If I vacuum in her general direction, she'll scoot off a few feet and continue to watch. I don't think she really knows what to make of it!
Since I work in grooming loud dryers and vaccums are a part of life. Douglas has become very used to them and doesn't even twitch anymore. My other dog...terrified.
My ferrets also don't care, Bode and I often play with the vaccum. He dooks and war dances and tries to catch the vaccum, which inevitably sucks up some body part and gets him going even more. Hilarious.
Willow runs. Mylo does a mixture. He'll run at it, bark, run away, repeat. They're not bothered if it's off though. They also dislike my upright more than my sister's Henry one.
Karma is curious about it every time, Laska gets super scare as soon as he sees it, when it's on he runs and hide as far as possible usually under the dinning room chair cover then when I am getting closer he moves to his other secret location (inside my closet in my bedroom) Karma follows him around but at time she comes close to look at the vacuum. None of them bark at it.
Honey used to love the vacuum! She would literally follow me around and help me hoover
But... a few months ago, she decided she hated it! She doesnt do anything when its off, but as soon as the On Button is touched - woah! Barking, jumping, etc!
She will quieten down and go in her basket if told though, so i dont think its too much of a problem for her, shes just got used to doing that reaction when its turned on maybe? Another thing to work on with her!
