Default Coconut oil

What is the best way to use coconut oil for our chi's? I use it a lot for my hubby and I. We cook with it and apply I o skin so I thought I would start using it for Tiki too. but I wondered what is the best option. Is it applied to skin for allergies? Is it drizzled over food?

I drizzle over Star's food like I do with salmon oil. But start off a little because it can cause loose stools if given too much the first time.

You can use it topically or given to eat as a supplement (or both). I like to use fish oil as the supplement they eat. I use coconut oil topically. It works great if anybody's ear-tips get dry from the colder weather.

Yep...you can do either...or both. When I was doing a lot of supplements (while doing prey model raw--I've been lazy with the ZiwiPeak since it already has fish oils in it LOL)...I'd rotate salmon oil & coconut oil.

I don't even add it to food, I just melt it in my hand and let him lick it up. He loves coconut oil! When I use it on my hair and skin he just wants to lick me!

Coconut oil interests me as well, I currently just drizzle some fish oil over my dogs food daily. Does coconut oil serve the same skin/coat purpose that fish oil does?

Yes.... and no lol. I don't think plant derived omega oils are as readily available to a dog as fish oils, so I use both. Coconut oil has all sorts of other beneficial properties though, from aiding digestion to being a natural wormer, it is truly amazing stuff.

Yes it does, and it also does more. Just google "benefits of coconut oil for dogs"
