When i put my puppies in their pen they start barking and whining and screaming until i let them out. I don't know what to do about it. I've got toys in there long with food and water and their bed with a heating pad under it. Im out of ideas lol help please?

thats just how they are. would u wanna be confined in a small area when us ee so much goin around u? its for their own good tho. i had to deal with this with KC when i had to leave her in her pen when i first got her to introduce to dexter slowly...and by a week or so she stopped cryin as much as she used to and just slept there and ate and played with her toys in ehr nice comfy bed
here's a shot
this was a screenshot taken from my phone app that i watched her thru an ip cam i setup right by her pen so i can watch while i was at work. i no longer use this cam or keep her in the pen anymore because she is ok to be out with Dex now and also because she was a climber and eventually jumped out the pen

The heating pad is nice but, if they decide to change their bedding , they could bite the cord and get electrocuted. I have a friend who's puppy bite an electric cord and was electrocuted, she didn't die but had a very burnt mouth and lost all her teeth.

I'm so sorry to hear that Evelyn I always got so paranoid when Dex and KC used to bite cords when they were younger. I spent so much on variety of chew toys just to give myself reassurance that they would chose that over cords but what they both loved most was phone chargers...im guessin because they're so thin lol....im so grateful they both got over that stage though

The quick answer is ignore them. They want attention and they want to get out, if they learn that making noise isn't going to get them out they'll stop. Willow made a lot of noise when we put her in her crate at night. It's hard to hear and it's hard to ignore but if you want them to be safe you have to do it. Each day it got less and after a week it stopped completely now there is no fuss at all and she seems to quite like her crate.
