well day 62 today and this afternoon Lola lost a straw coloured fluid and started shivering a lot. I thought maybe she was going into labor since I also saw a water bag which decided it didn't want to come out and went back in. SO far I've rang the vets twice but there saying if there's no sign of a pup then it isn't real labor yet just maybe early stages. SHe's currently decided she doesn't like her whelping box and has decided to rest in her dog crate . HAs anyone had this happen before and am I looking at a late night delivery ?
How big is she? Does she have a lot of pups in there? 62 days, while normal for most breeds is late for a Chi, (56 days onwards is a normal Chi gestation) most vets don't know this. If her uterus is really full, there is a possibility of primary inertia, where contractions never start. So if things don't get going soon, insist the vet sees her again. Amazing, it only takes a pup a little over two months to develop? Wow, didn't know that.
