We realized very soon after we got him that Axle is super social, he wants to greet and play with every person and dog he comes across.

We decided that since we are at work at least 8 hours a day it wouldn't be fair to keep such a social little man as an only dog so we got his half sister Chloe 2 months after we got Ax and they are just the best of friends and play and snuggle together all day.

We got Winston 6 months later and while he and Ax play together it seems the two boys only want to snuggle with miss Chloe - she's always the centre of attention in our house and loves to be groomed and fussed over by the boys. I don't think we could get another girl Chi, Chloe would hate to have to compete for attention.

I have a 6-month-old yellow Labrador. Percy absolutely loves her. I really love having two dogs.

Romeo is definately happiest when he has doggy company during the day, but he gets pretty sulky when I give other dogs attention and doesn't like another dog on the bed. The set-up we have at the moment is great because my mum has her dog, and I have Romeo, he get's the company in the day, but has me all to himsefl! I think I will get another when I move out though, I don't want him to be lonely! x

As Lacey came from a chihuahua breeder to me at nearly 2 years old and had never been left "alone," she suffered from separation anxiety. Every time I wasn't in her sight/range of hearing, she would howl (there's several posts on here about it!). She was driving me crazy, so I decided I was going to try fostering a pet to see if an anima companion helped her. Fostering a kitten allowed Lacey the company she was seeking, and her howling stopped from day 1 with her new friend. Afraid her separation anxiety returning, and too kind to take her new best friend away, I ended up letting Lacey adopt "her kitten."
I'm sure since the chihuahua is a pretty social dog and very reliant on the company of others that they benefit from companionship when you are not around. After seeing the change in Lacey's overall attitude since getting her kitten, I would definitely recommend having more than one pet. It doesn't even have to be another dog
