I don't know what it is about my chi's but potty training is a chi no no to them they just don't seem to get point. . . . I've done everything and nothin will stop them of this horrible habit. Please for the love of chi's lol help me!

In beginning to think its a chi thing! My Rolo will be as good as gold most days (he's 8 months) and then he just seems to totally forget. He WILL NOT go to the door and ask to be let out when he needs to go like my other dogs did. I have to pick him up, take him out myself and then stand over him till he goes or he will just sneak back indoors and do it. Of course when I'm out I say to everyone else "please will you take Rolo out every few hours?" Do they? Nope! I always come back to a wee in the bathroom. The breeder I got him from used shaggy training mats and he thinks my bath mat is one so wee's on that. This morning I opened the back door, and pointed him out of it and told him to go wee-wee's, I watched him, he went to his usual place then turned round and came straight back indoors and tried to cock his leg up my sons coat! I'm sure he does it because he just likes the attention he gets from me standing outside in the freezing cold and pitch dark with him! Argh!!!

I read an article on the net about house training and the first thing it said was "Chi's are notoriously difficult to housebreak". You don't say!

Can you explain what methods you have tried? How long have you had your pups?
I know chis are stubborn on potty training and it may take up to a year (depending on the dog). Are you going out with them on a schedule? Giving them the yummiest potty only treats? Giving them lots of praise and dance like an idiot when they do go? My chi isnt a treat girl, so I do give her lots of praise and dance like an idiot when she does go where she supposed to. People look at me crazy but it works

Yes they are, and so are pugs! Had a pug that took 6 months to potty train with only 2 accidents in a crate (only cuz we been gone too long). She never asked to go potty. I just had to take her to potty on a schedule. The only thing I dont like about male dogs that they can pee a little here and there to mark and doesnt empty the bladder like females do.

Tell me about it! When I take Rolo out for a walk he stops and wee's literally every 30 seconds, takes me ages just to get down the road!

They can be so smart and yet so clueless at times lol. Mine never graduated out of the belly band, doh!

Honey also stops every minute to have a wee, she also cocks her leg up lol! Little monkey!
She used to be pad trained, transitioned to outside only a few months ago. If shes in the garden, i have to make sure she has gone before I let her back in or she will still go on the carpet indoors if she has free run of the house.

I found out what helps! Spread a little pepper on your floor and put puppy pads in the middle of the pepper . Its totally WORKED! I was amazed lol it was my fiance idea lol god love him
