Question Uti?

Hi chi peeps!
Pico started acting odd on sunday. I called the vet on monday because i wanted him seen before christmas. They sqeezed us in. Instead of a regular appt., they took him in the back. When they brought him out, the tech said that he had a fever so they gave him fluids and would send him home with antibiotics.
I think it may have been a uti because he was having weird episodes of what seemed like submissive urination the week prior which is not like him at all.
If my theory is correct, this would make 2 UTIs in the 1.5 years we have had him.
Is this common with small dogs?
Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated. I am so glad I took him in and soglad he is back to himself now!
Thanks,
Dee

Some dogs are more prone to UTI than others. My Sadie had them back to back to the point they thought she might have or would get bladder stones. 1-2 cranberry pills a week and no more UTI for the last 12 years. I tried to see if she would drink Cranberry juice but that was a big NO so try the pills.

Cranberry pills & vitamin C helps naturally & since he's on antibiotics again, I strongly recommend it. No it's not that common, but antibiotics will cause UTI's. Soak food in water to raise his water intake.

Wow! Thanks everyone! I will get some cranberry pills asap. I have some acidophillis here so ill give him some stat.
When he had a fever and wasnt eating, i boiled chicken and gave him the warm chicken water to keep him hydrated. He loved it and i think it helped.
