Yes, Pro Plan is Purina. The pieces are so small, he gobbles them up with no issues... Im not a fan of the store brands either, which is why I picked up the Blue. By day 2 he had not even had 1/4 cup free feeding. He would try and chew the pieces and let them fall out of his mouth then walk away. Im definately getting him off of it asap. My pit mix eats Taste of the Wild pacific stream because he tends to have itchy ears, prone to infections, and since switching its stopped. My cats get Blue Wilderness canned, and a small amount of the same dry to share since Id rather they eat the wet.
Ill keep him on the 3 meals a day and see how it goes. Like I said, some meals he eats it all, and others he will munch half then just walk away. One thing about the scheduled meals, MUCH easier to do potty breaks! Financially, things can be tight, but not so tight I would skimp on my pets health.
Hes due to go to the vet the day after tomorrow actually for his rabies... Last time he was at the vet he was 2lbs 5oz and Id venture to say hes gained a few ounces since then. He fills out his harness much nicer. I thought 1/2 a cup seemed like a lot... I was just going by the bag. I just wasnt sure why he wasnt finishing his meals. He ate about 3/4ths of his breakfast this morning and is going to have lunch shortly.
jesuschick... I never even thought of smashing up the Blue! I wasnt happy feeding him the Pro Plan... Im going to start smashing the BB and switch him to it over the course of the next week and then just chuck the rest of the Purina. I hate wasting, but Id rather he be eating healthier.

I have been feeding Fromm for couple years and the kibble is really small. They have 4 grain free varieties and some with grains as well. Leo, our puppy, was started on Fromm the day we for him, it's approved for all life stages! And my picky eater, Lola, absolutely loves Fromm (all 4 grain free favors). Maybe you can look into that? Purina is just such a horrible quality dog food, and the Fromm won't cost you more than a couple bucks per small bag, it will also last longer since its grain free. Hope this helps!

Really?! Bryan's mom started feeding Fromm surf and turf way back when and then I tried some of hers when Lola was a baby and right before Gino got sick, they both went nuts over it. Now all 3 love love love it! Lola has always had bad breath (no matter what I feed and she gets dentals every 6 months with perfect labs, I don't get it!!), the other two have normal breath. I know the surf and turf is black and blue, so maybe u were feeding one with grains in it? Ashely (Toby's mommy) started Fromm free game bird recently and he loves it too! I would try another sample bag of the grain free!

Oh ya then def don't switch! Esp if they're doing great on wellness! I remember a time when bry thought I was collecting food when trying to find one Lola would eat. Also she was throwing up multiple times per day and I thought it was the food. Crazy thing was, I cut out the expensive digestive enzymes and fish oil I was using and viola! No more puking ever!!! Yay!!
