Hi everyone! First post here!

I'm in desperate need from some advice!!!!

My three year old chihuahua, Cody, one day stopped eating from his bowl.

I feel as though I have tried everything including: switching bowls, paper plates, moving him to a different area, mashing up the food, switching the food, leaving him to eventually go on his own because he gets hungry enough and even feeding him direct from the can of food!

I've asked the vet before, but they didn't seem to have much advice. The only thing Cody will insist on is hand feeding which I really do not want to give in to; not to mention how time consuming hand feeding is...The one thing he will do though is eat directly off the floor and because it is wet food, this can get messy and is very annoying for me

Is there any advice anyone can give me? I've read through some posts here, but I think I've tried all those things.

Am I doing something wrong?!?!

Aww, who could resist that little face? Lol. I'm afraid I'm not much help on that topic. Rolo will eat out of a bowl but he brings it into the front room and plonks it in the middle of my carpet, eats it, then goes back and does the same again! I also feed him wet food and kibble so I'm sympathetic! Chihuahuas are funny little things. They love any sort of attention they get. I had a bad night sleep wise last night an so have had a lazy day in, Rolo has literally been glued to my lap/neck/shoulder all day! Your little chi is probably thinking "great... Mum loves me coz shes feeding me!" Lol

Rolo looks so cute!!!!! I appreciate any sympathy, nobody understands unless they have a little on themselves!

Dottie used to do this,so if she didn't eat it from the bowl i took it away,then after an hour i put it back if she didn't eat it off it went again,she soon learnt that she was hungry and if she didn't eat it it would go again.No problems after that

I think you should leave his food out for a half hour to an hour and if he doesnt eat just throw it away. Dont give him food again until his next mealtime. He'll start to learn that if he doesnt take the opportunity to eat then it'll be gone. This is what you're supposed to do when you start a feeding schedule and it works.

A healthy dog won't starve itself.
Sounds to me that you are turning your pup into a picky eater by offering him all
these options. I would simply feed twice per day, small amounts, no treats in
between, if he refuses to eat his meal then you take it away until the next meal.
A healthy adult dog can easily go a day without eating. He'll learn his lesson quickly.
