Hello I have a couple of unrelated questions so I will just number them and if anyone can help that's great.

1. Moose tends to scratch his hind legs on my carpet at various times, especially when he comes in from going potty. It's like it's too cold to do it outside. But, it seems that he does this when he is wearing his shirts/sweaters (no matter what fabric). Why does he do this?

2. He eats Fromm. The kibble is pretty small but somtimes he seems like his throat is dry and he has difficulty swallowing. I sometimes even wonder if he's chewing it! Should I add water to it or just let it be?

3. How do you measure your dog without them squirming all over? He's big in the chest and I find I have a hard time getting standard shirts to fit him. The size S seems to fit in the chest and length of the back but on the underside it's too big and he pees on it. The XS is so short on the back. I swear I got a girth of 13.6, length of 11-12. But he was so squirmy. Acutally, perhaps this IS related to why he scratches - maybe his clothes don't fit?

I am guessing he may have wee'd on his clothes and that is why he is rubbing them on the carpet. If I do not remove the clothes, my dog will get wee on them. he goes at eh end of his walk and waits for me to take his jumper off..... The yare funny.

About the "dry" swallowing issue. Have a vet check that. Chi-s are prone to have tracea issues. If yours have somehting going on better sort it now than later.

I just recently measured Ren for a coat I ordered from Etsy and had some difficulty at first. What worked for me was to distract him with something to lick while I measured. I use a "Lickety Stik" which is a liquid treat on a roller ball. This probably works better if you have a second person to help you, but my husband wasn't around at the time, so I sat down and held the Lickety Stik between my knees. While he was standing up (with all 4 paws on the floor) to lick it, I was able to get some measurements. Another option would be to put some food on a spoon and freeze it - such as peanut butter - and let the dog lick it while you measure. Because it's frozen it will take a while to get all of it off.
