Midgie had a dental back in Feb of last year. Her teeth look pretty clean & I use oral gel on them. Her stomach still makes noises, but not bad. She looks like she's getting thinner & thinner to me, but I don't see bones. I guess I need to take her to the wholistic vet, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I bought some Oikos plain yogurt & gonna try it to see if it helps. I'm wondering if it's the Venison ZP that's not agreeing with her. Although the holistic vet said it was good for her 2 months ago, I get the feeling something may have changed. I've got her down to the bare minimums without starving her to death. I'm trying to find some organic beef for her, but I know the ZP is a more balanced diet.

If Midgie is getting thinner and thinner, she's not getting enough to eat; or what she is eating is not getting digested correctly. I forgot what her problem was/is. Sorry about that.

I thought of that but I'm feeding her 3 times a day sometimes plus snacks like a baby carrot, apple banana. I was thinking the same thing about not digesting it correctly, but her stools look normal.

when people diet they can get bad breath from ...not having enough to fuel the body and muscle breaking down , etc. if Midge is gettin thinner--she probably needs more. You do not want her to lose muscle mass. I find that Rico needs to eat several times a day. He also needs his teeth brushed about every other day....if he gets stinky breath there is something caught in his teeth. I find that when there is a bit of something in there it can cause a lot of stinlk-no matter what spray or gel goes in, sometimes he needs to be brushed

Maybe the ZP isn't working well for her. Toby was so sick- I switched his food about a month ago and no problems since! ZP is a great food but not for every dog. She sounds like she may have a nourishment issue from your description.

I mixed in some Oikos plain yogurt & pumpkin with her ZP last night & what a difference in her energy level. I'm going to continue to feed her 3 times a day instead of twice for a while to see if it helps. I don't really want to take her off the ZP for a couple of reasons unless I know for sure it's not agreeing with her. It's the only food I can feed her unless I give her raw (I'm having trouble finding organic raw right now). She's been eating ZP for over 2 years now & has not seemed to have a problem with it.

Your post makes a lot of sense to me. With it being winter, she's not getting the exercise she normally does in the spring/summer so she shouldn't look so thin to me & family members have commented on it. Thanks so much for the info.
