Tia jumped off the Ben's bed last night and hurt her leg. Got her into the vet this morning and was told it was a luxating patella. She gave me anti-inflammatory pills for Tia. What can I do to make Tia more comfortable? She is laying with me right now and I know that she is miserable.
Poor Tia. Hope she feels better soon. Try to softly massage it if she'll let you. You should invest in doggy steps & try to stop her from jumping as much as possible. They learn really quick to use them.
Thanks everyone! I was thinking of dog steps, but I think they might get broken from the kids. I saw on here how to make your own so I will end up doing that if I do doggy steps. All of our beds are box springs and mattresses on the floor, the vet didn't seem worried about it when we went in and said she should feel better very soon with the meds.
Another good thing, is to put her on Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements.
These are substances that naturally occur in the dog's body. They are crucial
for healthy joints and cartilage. You can buy the same kind you would for
people. I like the liquid kind because it is easy to add to their daily meals,
and they don't mind the taste.
