Default Heartworm/Flea Prevention

I was wondering who gives heartworm and flea prevention evey month or who does not. Is it really necessary for it to be given to them every month, or can they go without it?

I give heartworm medication every 45 days and I choose not to treat for fleas.

It depends on your area. We live in East Texas and I would not personally let Jaxx go without it. Especially with how bad mosquitoes were last year here in TX. I know areas in Dallas sprayed for mosquitoes but we heard from friends in that area that said they were still bad even after spraying.
Fleas can cause tape worm and can just be aggravating for the dogs skin as well as they spread fast. I prefer to prevent rather then treat after the fact.
I only treated my dogs when I lived in WV during the Spring and Summer for fleas/ticks/heartworm since it got so cold there that it wasn't really an issue in the Fall and Winter. It stays so warm here in TX though that Jaxx gets treated year around here.
I have heard from friends that do not treat that they had a hard time with fleas last year but I never saw a flea on Jaxx.

I give from March to November every 45 days but it also depends on where you live for HW.

As for flea and tick- No if we go out hiking or in a wooded area I use this (my holistic vet gave me this)

I give a heart worm preventative once a month. I only treat for fleas if I have an issue.

Default Heartworm/Flea Prevention

We use a Dewormer during the warm months. We don't get fleas where we live but have treated for it before (when she did have fleas) after traveling. In the future, I will bath her before leaving to come home and treat if necessary.

When we lived in NJ, only did it in spring through fall. Now we lived in FL I do it every month.
