I give them when I can use the time with the dogs occupied! Mine will finish one off no matter what the size if I let them so I go more by volume than length of time. I will let Kerri go about 3 inches and copley 6 or 8. That takes them about 20 or 30 minutes. I can't just leave them with the dogs unsupervised like other people do- my dogs would just go at em till they were gone.
I leave them down and only pick one up if I think it is too small to chew on (like the last end piece). Mine will chew for awhile then walk away. They have multiple bones down that they rotate through and have never had an issue. I think it is good for them when I am away at work to keep them entertained.
The girls get one for about 20-30 mins a day, usually when I need them to calm down, or they are needing "chew time"; I only use the same stick 2-3x, because the get soooooo stinky! Also, I find that too much Bully stick can make their poop runny....eeeewwww!!!
I had never heard of bully sticks til I joined CP and now that I know what they are I don't think I can possibly let Bitsy chew on them. EEEW lol. I got some little 100% dehydrated sweet potato chews for her to chew on. Does anybody have experience with these? I am really going to watch her with them. They are pretty tough but I don't think they are as tough as bully sticks and I don't want her to choke.
Erin-Please just check the package and be certain that they are made in the U.S.A. There are a lot of Chinese made dog treats sold in many stores here and they can be very dangerous.
