Could it be that the space at your office is not very comfortable for them? Perhaps a few more blankets and pillows in a corner could become a wonderful play spot that can double as a nice bed. My chi used to love playing with my old roommates chi all day long on the bed and then snuggle up under the covers and take a nap!
Also maybe they are feeding off your energy at work as when you are at work it's really not a playful zone perhaps you should go in on a day off with your chi and spend the afternoon playing in the space and or try going in an hour or 30 min early or staying late an hour or so to allow for extra play time during the day!
For me being that I take online classes I am on the computer for long amounts of time so I adjusted my computer desk to include a small pet bed (cat bed actually) where my chi can jump up and come say hello!

It was the greatest idea I ever had! I really love how my chi (Vida) will jump up at random times wag her tail and start giving me kisses

... perhaps you could do something similar? If you work with your husband it sounds like you have much more flexibility and can think outside of the box. Also if your chi's can't jump very high make stairs or a ramp up to your desk. Vida will usually sleep on my desk as I am doing my work online and It is so much easier for me to take a 4 or 5 min break to pet her or rub her tummy as she tosses and turns.
but for you perhaps you should try things to help create a better environment maybe background music or make them do tricks for a treat every now and then. Either way my guess would be that I would think they are feeding off your mood as you may not feel as relaxed and playful as you do at home and they just might not like the space as much either. none the less they are lucky to be able play with their owner and or sleep near them all day while they are at work! not all pets are so lucky!

so you are already well ahead "doing better" than many other pet owners
