Default Greenies

I got a sample of Greenie teenies. I gave one to Lady and Prince and they loved them. Does anyone use these as part of dental care? Is there any danger I don't know about? I am always looking for things that are good for their teeth. Lady polished hers off in about a minute though.

Apparently there are quite a few people claiming that greenies contributed to their dog's death.

Dog Treats Kill - CNN

Edited to add that we don't use them all the time, but as a treat sometimes I'll buy Odie a Zuke's z bone, which has much more natural ingredients. Zuke's Z Bones

Just my own experience. I used to give them to my pups, they loved them. However, I quickly changed my mind one day when I found an old container with some old ones still in it...with lots of little bugs. At first I thought it was just somehow these little buggers got into the container. Then we found an unopened small bag (again, old & forgotten at the bottom of their travel bag) with bugs. I dont know what the hell are in them, but never again for my little ones.

I have written to the Greenies company before asking about these rewiews about dogs dying from Greenies. They haven't at all said anything about my concerns about those reviews and only "promised" that they will always look out for the best for dogs. So for me their answer was not at all satisfying enough that I would ever buy Greenies again.

You can always write them yourself and see what they got to say.

I have never given greenies before and read about all the dogs that died from it years ago. Even if they said they made it less plastic material these days I still don't feel comfortable with it. Dental treats dont even, work on dogs either..its just a gimmick. Bullysticks are better

Very good information. I actually bought the Zukes z-bones too in the berry flavor so maybe I should stick to those and drop the greenies idea. They like those as well. They do say not suitable for dogs under five pounds and Prince is 3.5 pounds. I cut the z-bone in half for him and only gave him half.

I have heard of dogs choking on greenies so I stay away. I will give a Zukes bone here and there

I'v always herd that they are dangerous for dogs. Iv never tried them since I herd that dogs have died from them. There are toooooo many other treats and chew bones and things for dogs that Im not guna risk their health and lives just to give them greenies..thats just my 2 cents
