This is probably going to sound like a really stupid question so I apologise in advance!

I bought Vega a couple of days ago as a 'black and tan' and to be honest, when I first saw her she was pretty dark but as soon as we stepped out into day light, she actually looks more like a dark blue/grey colour.

I didn't buy her from the breeder so don't have papers that state her actual colour, I bought her from a person who had bought her from the breeder to keep his other dog company but the older dog just kept attacking her. He'd only had her 2 weeks and decided to sell her, so I stepped in and bought her from him. I have copies of mum and dad's KC papers but he said that the breeder told him that "her papers are in the post" - I have no doubt in my mind that I will never see those papers, but that's not important anyway as I only wanted her as a pet so I was wondering - I'm not being silly in thinking she's a blue and tan?!

My second question, he said she was born on the 17 November 2012, which would make her 10 weeks or so in age. Shouldn't she have a full set of teeth?! I bought my other 2 chis at 8 weeks and they both had all of their baby teeth, but Vega has a few (including her canines) but some are just coming through and others are not there at all. We have a vet appointment tonight anyway to get her checked over but I was wondering if anyone has seen this before or if he was lied to about her real age. At the moment she weighs less than a pound, she is ridiculously tiny, so the thought of her actually being a lot younger than he said she is doesn't seem too far-fetched.

I know that it sounds cazy that I bought her without having all of the background information, trust me when I say it's not a habit of mine. She is so small and frail and he wasn't asking for very much money for her, and with all the puppy mills around the area she lived in I couldn't bring myself to leave the poor little mite there. At the very least I know that I can provide her with everything she needs and all of the healthcare she needs to make sure she is fighting fit for the rest of her life. Let's call it my good deed for 2013

She looks black in the pictures. She is so cute. I bought my Tinkerbell from someone off crighlist, the lady told me she had shots but couldnt prove it. She also was so skinny you could see her ribs. The papers didnt matter, when I seen how skinny she was I took her right then.. She is the sweetest little girl. I cant answer any of your questions, but she is a cutie.

She looks black but in certain lights (and flash photography) she looks more like a dark grey...I've never actually seen a black and tan chihuahua or a blue and tan in real life so have only photos to compare her to!

Poor Tinkerbell That's exactly how I felt, seeing how small she was I couldn't care less about papers I just wanted to scoop her up and take her home with me. She hasn't had any of her shots yet, I don't even think she's ever been to the vets. I checked up on the parents with the Kennel Club and they don't even have a litter registered for them let alone any health test results. Poor little girl.

No clue on color but she is as cute as can be. I would see what the Vet says about her age and teeth. That could go together with someone not telling the truth. Both of mine at 10 weeks had sharp needle teeth.

A ten week old puppy would have a full set of baby teeth. She might well be a lot younger than you have been told, or possibly a bit older, and is already losing her baby teeth.
She definitely looks blue and tan to me, if she were black her nose would be black, a blue has a blue/grey nose.
She is very cute! Wherabouts in Wiltshire are you? I am just over the border in Frome.

She appears black & tan on my screen. Her nose looks black to me. My Jade looks black and white in pics, but she's blue and white. Her "blue" is grey in person. Her nose is a dusky dark blue.

Teeth. It depends. Could be she's younger than you were told, or slow developing. Mine didn't get their teeth in like they should for their age.

She looks like a blue and tan to me...as far as teeth go..I would think, if she is 10 weeks that she should have her baby teeth unless she is actually older than that..My girl Pixie lost all her top and bottom teeth at the same time and had only gums for about 5 days lol sorry, Im not much help.
