Default Need a little help

Ben is almost a year old now and he is fully trained but the last few nights he has taken to pooping in his crate. We are lost to the cause. He doesn't seem sick, he doesn't go in the house and goes to the door during the day. This only happens at night. We have had no issues like this since we got him and it seems strange to just pop up like this. When it happens he becomes agitated and tried to distance himself as much as he can and make as much noise as he can to get our attention but only after the fact. There have also been no diet changes. Is it something that he did once by accident and now thinks is okay to do? Would starting training over be an option or is this something more serious like stress? Any advice would be great.

How strange, rupert started to do this when he was about 6 months after no messing in his crate for ages and I changed his meal time in the evening to an hour earlier to allow time for him to digest and do a poo before bed time. He cried also which I thought meant he didn't want to do it in his bed. Chis are really clean and he wouldn't want to poo in his bed on purpose.

If this continues, I'd look to a vet visit first. Anytime there are changes like this, and you can't figure out why, a vet might have the answer. Stress, any change in feeding, any changes in the household, all can be the 'answer'. If you can't figure it out, and it continues, then a vet visit is in order. Just the way he acts when he has 'done' it, makes me wonder if it is somewhat of an emergency? Like, oh dear, I've just messed my crate; come and change it.

What about the weather? When we have bad weather, it's like it takes Angel a while to get used to it! He poops inside once, then I decide to put down a pee pad for him and next time he'll want to go out!

Also, how long is he in his crate overnight. Maybe he needs to his business later in the evening. Angel's last time out at night is around 10:30. Then he is good til 7:30 or 8:00 next morning.

Yea I'm going to the vet on Monday just to be sure. He's in his crate just when we sleep and we have had no issues with that the last 10 months. The weather has been bad here as well and I was also thinking of that but he is the one that has had no issues with the cold on walks. I always have to put his sister in my coat after a few minutes. My wife and I have gone over every aspect of the last few nights to try and see any changes with nothing that stands out. I'll let you know how the vet visit turns out. Thanks for the responses.
