Sorry, can't help. Please ask the vet who, I hope, you have watching Mischa. They'd be the ones that can answer this. Good luck on the whelping.

Smile pregnancy

yes she does see a vet, I was asking merely outta curiosity how much anyones chi had gained when pregnant. She is monitored weight, feed, exercise, ultra sound ,x-rays, up to date on shots, worming everything, have all whelping supplies no worries there, she even has her own bank account for shots, emergany all that.pups have homes already keeping till 12 weeks old, I have contracts, all bases covered.Just wondered if anyone has any positive stories about whelping their Chihuahua was all.I have assisted in whelping a number of dogs all sizes but only the second time I have had to whelp my own pet last dog I whelped was pitbull/sharpie/boxer /lab poor thing was just a year old and owners had no clue I had to monitor her, feed her bathe her and help her birth 3 pups.

Yes she has, everything is going good.she hasn't been sick or off her food just waddling like a duck.her mom had 3 first litter and 4 her last litter, same as her grandmother .Mischa's breeder has the grandparents, the mom and the dad, her mom threw big pups mischa was smallest at 2.5ounces.But Mischa is bigger than her mom 5.5lbs and her dad was 3.5lbs.excited but nervous is all she is my baby, well all my chi's are my babies.

That's a picture of my roommates chi before she had Vida and the other babies! I really don't know how much weight she gained but she got BIG!!! she did have 4 pups 2 born right way 2 born backwards one died (one of them born backwards) the other one that was born backwards my roommate had to gently help her pull. Also the sac they are born in had to be popped and opened (they come out individually rapped like Twinkies lol) it's very good that you are involving your vet so closely. If you have any other questions I'd be happy to try to answer them Also Lush herself is about 5lbs (Vida's mom shown here) and the father was at least 7lbs Vida was 1st born and took after him being a bit bigger in size we were very lucky to have been blessed with a successful natural birth of 3 wonderful chi although it was very sad knowing one of the chi died because it came out wrong and wasn't able to do anything as it died...

I would suggest you talk to your vet about what they can do if they are born backwards or if any complications happen that may put your chi at risk. Make sure you post TONS of pixs of her growing belly!

It's a gross experience but witnessing the moment of birth of my adorable baby is a memory I will always have forever lol ...also watching a chi go from being the playful and silly chi to being a responsible mother is also an amazing moment! hope you record it too! I wish I had :S

Default question about chi pregnancy

You sound like you are a very sensible breeder!

I have no experience with helping a dog to give birth but I am applying to be a student midwife next year and am currently doing an access course so I have a basic knowledge of human birth if that helps. Although I cant offer you any specific advice on doggy birth I will advise you to do as much research as you can into any possible complication that may arise as if there is one thing that is constant throughout both kinds of birth is that the process can be highly unpredictable. I would also have a list of emergency numbers, write down opening times of vets, work out how long it would take you to get to the vet, and ensure there are two people present at the birth as if you have to go for an emergency csection someone will have to stay with the chi while the other is driving.

Also, maybe get a little stethoscope to listen into the babies' heartbeats every so often.

Good luck and I hope your chi has a happy and healthy pregnancy and safe and successful birth.

Smile mischa pregnancy

I have had ultra sound also x rays and babies are in the right position she is resting a lot , Saturday starts the 9th and final week of pregnancy and the vet is just up the street a bit from where I live, going to try to get another belly shot tonight it is bigger now than it was when I posted the picture in my ablum, that one looks heart shape.I also have medical background but every situation is different specially when it is your own pet, yes I know much about human birth I have two sons one was a emergencey C-section and other natural even though they were only a ounce different and year apart..my oldest son is going through for a paramedic and will be here as well.I am the youngest of 11, my mom usually knew things before my doctors lol.
