Default calming a puppy

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my puppy to calm down? She gets sooooo overly excited that sometimes I get scared because her little heart beats so so fast. Nothing I do seems to get her to calm down when she's having one of her hyper bouts. The other night, she started head butting her play pen while she was playing with her toys. She gets so into her toys, that she doesn't notice anything around her. This doesn't seem to be hurting her, but I'm just worried because she has such a tiny little apple head, and I wouldn't want her to hurt herself. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This forum is really awesome. You all are great. Thanks! =)

LOL you want to calm down a puppy?? Good luck!!

She won't hurt herself, don't worry. If she does do something that makes her yelp, she'll most likely be yelping because it scared her. Just keep an eye on her and enjoy watching her run around like a little freak!!

LOL Nat... I'm gonna wrap Cooper in bubble wrap one day and take a picture. I think that's the best option for the zoomies.

That's just puppies - they are usually pretty hyper.

Jazzy is 1 yr old and still gets hyper and takes off on her zoomies. She still will occasionally run into the wall, the couch, the coffee table, etc.
It is actually quite hilarious to watch.

Heres a zoom doggie story for ya... I was sitting out on the patio one afternoon when my first chi, Ricky started to zoom around, next thing you know, the little turkey ran right into the sliding glass door! I remember him letting out a giant yelp and falling down on the ground. One emergency trip to the vet and a little over $100 later he was just fine. Seems he just knocked himself silly! Sliding glass doors are definately something I would caution you about. Try not to worry to much. Pups are pups and they love to play. Enjoy these moments, they won't last forever!
