Unhappy URGENT help needed for Sparky

Hi everyone! I'm sorry for the silence - major building project has taken too much attention. All's fine with me although one of my own dogs may be rather ill. Time and tests will tell. Think positive thoughts for my boy Robin, please. But my friend in PA, with the chi, is concerning me - maybe someone in this wonderful forum can help? She says that the little guy has to be rehomed ASAP. I'm pleading with her not to take him to a pound as I fear he'll be PTS owing to the recession and numbers of dogs already looking for a home. It's all very sad and I'm doing what I can long distance from here in England. Maybe if you have any knowledge of places where my pal can get a permanent loving home you'll get back to me? (I'm happy to take private messages.) My friend is worried about Sparky, already a rehome situation when her son couldn't say 'no'. But she and her wayward adult son, who brought the dog home in the first place, are out for 14 hours a day and can't give this characterful little dog what he needs and deserves even though they do love him. She now has her second, adult son at home from gaol, and her life is chaotic. If I lived there I'd have the little chi for sure! I love my friend to pieces but she and her sons are not what I call truly dog-orientated as their lives aren't geared to dogs. I've trawled the net to see if there is a chi rehoming organisation in/near PA but there seems nothing. I contacted one which had PA on its list but she replied that she didn't cover the area. I'm posting this and hope that I've not broken any rules - forum protocol is still a bit confusing to me! Thanks in anticipation. Time is running out for Sparky and I fear that he may be taken to a pound in utter desperation, which will be ghastly as he's now adores his home and owners. My friend desperately wants a permanent loving home for Sparky but has major problems with these sons, who are taking what little time she has after long days at work rather than being able to pursue a proper rehome search. I hope someone in the forum knows SOMEONE in the USA who can love Sparky. I'm sure my friend would travel some way for the right home. Thank you in anticipation.

Thank you so much for the reply, it's much appreciated. I think my pal would be prepared to get Sparky to another state if she had to - her sister lives in MA, and she does go up there. Anywhere up that way would do - PA, NJ, Delaware, posibly MD or VA, CT, MA - you get the drift. Fingers crossed - thanks again, even if your friend can't help. I've got everything crossed for Sparky. Dear little guy.

She doesn't have family or friends? How old is he? How big is he? How long has she had him? Do you have any pics? Just trying to get an idea. I know of a breeder in PA and maybe she would know somebody. Has she run an ad? Asked around? People would take my chi's off my hands at a second's notice. They are a very "desired" breed. You're a good friend to try to help her.

Hi there! Thank you for replying - this is a great forum. Well, I'm not sure about his age or size - he's not a pup but he's not ancient, either. I will ask her - I feel he's around a couple or 3 years? I'll find out about his size too but the way she talks he's not a teacup boy. Well, my friend does love dogs but her lifestyle doesn't. However, although she's asked around and has pressurized her son into taking responsibility for rehoming Sparky, she hasn't been as pro-active as I would be in her situation - but then I wouldn't be parting with the dog anyway. To be fair she's having a terrible time with her sons, more grief than a decent, incredibly kind person deserves. She's a wonderful person and is really going through the mill - and dealing with Sparky's rehoming seems to fall off the list of time and priorities, it's all she can do to work long hours and then cope with these two young men and all their scrapes. I am desperately trying to help from long-distance and, being in dogs myself, I know much more than her about what help might be around and how to go about it. I've suggested all manner of things but unless you actually DO them, nothing will happen! That's how I found this great forum and such wonderful, caring true dog people! You can imagine how desperate I am - I could never part with my dogs, they are my world, my family and my life. (Oops - there's a husband in there somewhere, too!!)

Ooops, sorry - I think she's had him about 8 months. This little guy loves to play, adores company and just wants that final home for life. It would be fantastic if your friend could help.... I don't know his breeding, I doubt they've got papers for him although he is a full pedigree.

I think it would really help if you had a picture of him. It is very hard to expect someone to take in a new dog without at least a photo. Just my opinion.
