Also, don't forget that some dogs are not food motivated. I used to bait Piper with a toy. She liked the rabbit fur covered mice you can get at dog shows. She'd go nuts for one. It also kept her happy and interested. She only got to play with it when we were at a show.

Lucky for me the boy is lead around by his stomach LOL. He isn't to keen on toys, would rather pummel his siblings. He adores ground turkey (cooked) as bait but unless I bring a burner and pan to every show there's no guarantee I can make it...I can just see myself camping out in my hotel room with a gas burner and setting off fire alarms...errr...

Does he like hamburgers? Like from Wendy's or Mcdonalds? You could try him on it at home. If he really gets excited for it, you can just buy one when you get to the show. Most cities have a Mcdonalds.

another great idea! LOL he probably would love it, I'll have to see how his tummy does w/ it...so funny. I guess its kinda stinky and attention grabbing, and if he only gets it at a show I'm sure it won't kill him

The only thing that I use for Maisie as bait is chedder cheese - she'll do ANYTHING for cheese. Nothing else is interesting to her when were at a show.

My old cavalier though was never interested in toys or treats outside the house, so I used to wiggle my fingers to get his attention instead and it worked perfectly with him.

I have used hot dogs and string cheese besides chicken. hamburgers sounds like a good idea but a bit oily for my hands.
