Default New to showing - looking for some info :)

Hi, as I'm getting a new chi puppy... I wanted to know more about showing before I decided to show him or not. I'm new to this so... hope my questions are not too silly..

I'm in Canada, the pup is CKC registered - with non-breeding contract.

1) Does he have to be UN-neutered to enter show? Once I neuter him, does that mean I can no longer show him?

2) For shows, are there different categories? Can I still show him as a puppy and have him neutered later on? How soon can I start showing him?

3) Before showing him, what kind of training or classes does he need? Or am I able to train him at home (ie. standing on table)?

4) What other prep do I need before showing him?

Thanks!!!

Btw, if not, what are those "fun" competitions that people have been referring to? Maybe I can enter him in those?

here is a useful website http://www.ckc.ca/en/Portals/0/pdf/breeds/CIX.pdf
also if you wish to show him you cant neuter him, it is useful to attent those training classes at least a couple times so you can see how to train your pup and then you can practise those at home. and i think that you can start showing him in the puppy category from 6 months.

hope this helps

I am not sure, but I think that if he is on a non-breeding contract, he also cannot be shown. Shows are to evaluate breeding quality (supposedly lol), so, it wouldn't make sense to allow a dog with breeding restrictions on their pedigree to be shown. You can do agility and/or obedience with your pup though.
