I know a few people that have had it done. For some it was rough going. For others it was not so bad. All have lost quite a bit afterwards.

That does sound like a pretty big surgery with everything combined. The gallbladder surgery alone was enough for me and that really wasn't any big deal. LOL

I wish you a very speedy recovery!!!

My bil had the GB done...while he did lose alot of weight at first he slowly started putting it back on..I know his stomach is quite small now and he can't eat alot at one meal but he just eats 12 meals or so a day He's put back on alot of weight and the dr's are not pleased with him at all.

I think it's a great tool for weight loss if you are really willing to put forth the effort..it's not a cure by no means but it can help.

I wish you the best of luck and keep up posted!!!!!!

Thanks guys!!!

It is pretty drastic of a move on my part, but I feel like I need to do this. Not only for my physical wellbeing but for my sanity!! LOL

I feel like I have been living in some weird alien body and I am so happy to think that I might get (at least close to) my old body back!!!! When I started this process, everything just fell into place (that never happens for me) so I feel like this was just meant to be.

I have had some people not be very supportive of my decision (my brother included) but I try and "inform" them of the actual process and reassure them that I am in the very, very low percential of risks. So, here I go.......

I start on the liquid diet tomorrow... then off to the hospital at 5 am - surgery at 7:30 am. I can't wait to be a BIG LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!

I will try and give an update as soon as I am back from the Hospital.

Again, thanks for the support - I need it!!!

My sister considered the gastric bypass surgery but chose not to do it... instead, she's having the surgery where they put a silicone filled "band" around the top of the stomach area. I don't know anything about it except for that... they're using it as an alternative to the gastric bypass surgery, as it's safer (or so they say).
