Question Excercise with your Chi

Hey Everyone,
I just got a Female Chihuahua about a month ago shes 6 months old , and was wondering do any of you ever excercise with your chichuuahuas , like go aout for a jog or a long walk?
I have never had a dog this small , and am worried if she is able to go running with me. ??

i take rocky on really long walks every weekend! he loves it, and i think if your chi likes to walk theres no probelm, just dont over-exercise them and give plenty of water. i always stop a few time and give him water and he does fine!

I take Yoshi for very long walks through the park and sometimes we jog as well. Only thing is when I'm jogging I have to be eeextra careful not to hit her or step on her because she likes to run weaving in and out in front of me, and sometimes really likes to stop juuust before me O_o She seems to think it's funny when I trip all over myself trying to avoid her :P

Snickers keeps up better than our 95 lb dog on my walks. We walk/jog for about 45 min a few times a week. You can also buy one of those dog front carriers (like for a baby!) They work really well. We bring our dogs hiking and there is alot of stairs at the park we go to so I keep him in the bag when we do the stairs. People laugh when they see a dog in there but it works great!

Be a little bit carefull with the exercise whilst its still a puppy, over exercising can lead to problem in their older years! That doesnt mean you cant take ger for long walks just be carefull and watch the body language and see when she gets tired and maybe lift her up for a few minutes. She will start moving and show if she wants down again.

As for the front carriers, I have heard that they arent very good for the dogs back as its not a natural position for a dog to sit. For a baby yes but not a dog!

So limit the time spent upright or get a carrier where they can sit naturally, or even better let them walk!
