So I have officially been diagnosed with strep throat and I'm dying. I've never had something like this before not even fishermans friends help.

Currently i'm
-Taking ibuprofen
-Taking Benelyn for sore throat pain relief
-Gargling warm salt water

Does anyone know what else will work? I'm on antibiotics but this pain is so intense I aspire to swallow without pain. Or how long this can be guessed to last? I have an important date New Years eve and i'd really like to go

On the plus side Bijoux hasn't left my side all day.

Got an organic food type store near you? I like an herbal tea designed to soothe your throat. They usually have slippery elm bark and licorice plus some other ingredients. The one I've used is called "throat coat" but any herbal tea line probably has something similar. Also I've also taken acetominophen and ibuprophen at the same time when I had strep. I'm sorry you are so miserable. Hope you feel better soon.

Have you tried honey ? sometimes those throat sweets are too strong and make it worse,hope you feel better by new years eve

I used to have strep throat 2 to 4 times a winter until when I was 24 and the hospital I was working at told me I was getting my tonsils out. So, I feel your pain. They paid for everything, even the room I had to stay in overnight because I wasn't doing well enough to go home that night. Only thing I ended up having to pay for was the anesthesiologist because that wasn't covered, she was a contracted specialist. Try hot as you can stand it tea with honey. The heat stops the pain and the honey coats the throat.

I had strep so bad when I was a kid my tonsils deteriorated. Any way for the pain the best is something hot to drink. If you can have honey that's good too. Coffee, tea, something hot will help take the pain away. That's what I always did. Though cause I was so young all I could get was cocoa, but I sure didn't mind lol.

Aw thats no fun. =( OH and I have both been sick the last few days but not as bad as strep... that hurts. For me it helped to actually drink COLD things instead of warm; because of the numbing effect. McDonalds milkshakes are amazing when you have a sore throat lol.
