Hair help needed!
Is anyone a hairdresser or have good knowledge of hair colour?
I just got my hair coloured and I hate it It was my natural light ash brown with a half head of blonde foils over it. I wanted a medium brown with just a few highlights around the face to give it dimension, a more toned down and natural version of what I had. Hairdresser said to go a shade darker as it would fade a lot since it was over blonde. They also said don't get the highlights just yet until the fading was done. Well now my hair is super dark brown and I really don't like it coz i have fair skin and I think it looks really harsh. How do I get the colour to fade quickly? I googled and it said wash it with dishwashing liquid - I'm scared of what i'm going to end up with if I do this. I was thinking of doing highlights myself with one of those kits with the cap and then using the gradual lightening shampoo for blondes - i'm just worried this will wreck my hair. I don't really want to go back to the hairdresser - once bitten twice shy I guess. They will just tell me they did what I wanted (I did take a pic and I certainly don't look anything like it!). Anyone's advice would be appreciated.

This happened to me but I did it to myself! I called a friend who used to own a salon and she told me that color that is deposited on the hair, which is what you have done, is easier to correct. She indicated that it takes 5-6 washings to remove the excess color that your hair will not hold. So, you could wash it every day for the next week and see what you get or you could use a sulfate shampoo that will strip color. Your hair will need to be really conditioned after that. Preferably with a conditioner without silicones.
So, in my case, either my eyes adapted or the color lightened. I now go to a salon to get it done and it does look better than what I was able to do myself.

Karen is right, best thing to do is just wash it a few times.
Don't experiment with dishwasher liquid, lightening shampoos
or those horrible high lighting kits. Just be patient, it'll pay off.

You need to use a strong shampoo like one for oily hair or something.(If Prell is still available get that) That will help..definitely NOT one that is gentle or for color treated hair.
And after all that shampooing, i'd go with a good oil treatment. You can also buy coconut oil and slap some of it on and slip a plastic cap over it for a good 30 min then shampoo out. It is a great treatment!
I am a liscensed stylist.

Oh you poor baby, I'm sure it's not that bad.
I feel your pain though. Hair is important.

So I washed 3 times last night with dish soap, then did a deep conditioning treatment and then finally a leave in treatment. A bit of colour came out, water was brown and you can see where my blonde highlights were a bit more but some parts of my hair are still really dark. I will have to keep doing this for a few days I think. Then when the base is an ok colour I can get the highlights I wanted and finally get the look I was after. So frustrating! Why couldn't the hairdresser just make me look like the pic I took in in the first place???
