What age should mum leave the puppies??

I didn't know what to title this thread or to put it in the new health sections it's going to be long winded but I would really like some info on this!

My friend has a 5 1/2 month old chi puppy, he's badly bred and the 'breeders are suspect' anyway night before last he was bouncing around all over the place like he does on and off the sofa (her sofa is really low btw lower than an average height) anyway she was out the room and her friend was in with her boy and she heard ab almighty scream he had jumped off the sofa ad was screaming his head off!!!

Anyway he got to the vets turns out his leg is shattered above the knee cap not broken but shattered to pieces he's been sent to an orthopaedic surgeon today for plates abd pins to e put in his leg.

Anyway she asked the vet how this much damage could happen from a small fall (no foul play btw!) and the vet said he's only ever seen such damage on one dog before which was his yorkie who was from a similar background! He said it could be some sort of bone deficiency/weakness or something who knows!!

Anyway she found out from the stupid breeder that they took mum away I.e totally weaned te pups at like 4/5 weeks and mum was shoved back outside in the kennels with tw rest of her breedig stock. Now I know this is disgusting and wrong and behavioural problems can happen (this dog has severe separation anxiety and still isn't toilet trained) but I wondered because they weren't feeding off mum ad were given crap and I mean crap food (lowest of the low) could their bones not have developed properly because of a calcium deficiency or something??

She knows one other of the litter has had a different problem as her friend took one of the litter.

should my chihuahua of came into season yet???

my chihuahua is 11months old and has still not had a season yet i am sure that aint right but i have never had a chihuahua before

Hi everyone, My name is Ju I live in Norfolk UK and got my first Chi friday last week :hello1: He's name is Spudley "Spud" and he was born on the 27th June 10 We also have a Doberman "Jazzy", 2 gerbils, 2 Bunnies and 3 Pekin Hens. oh I also have a hubby and 2 sons lol

When I got Jackson I went out and bought some small toys for him. He is terrified of them though. He is afraid of the ones that squeak the most. Is this normal for chi's? I got him when he was just a little over a year old and the lady said they got him from people who were abusing him so maybe as a pup he never had toys and doesn't understand what they are for or what to do with them. The other dogs I have had in my life all loved their toys and I was just wondering if this is a fairly normal behaivor for the chi breed or not?

We're going to be taking in my wife's grandma's two Chihuahuas. They're both about 6 years old, a boy named Spud and a girl named Libby (short for Liberty). They're both extremely overweight. Libby's easily 10 lbs and Spud's about 8 1/2, thanks to grandma's habit of feeding table food.

They don't have any health issues or allergies that anyone knows of. They'll be eating Spot's Stew with our two, we plan on taking frequent walks and table food will be strictly forbidden. Does anyone have any other suggestions for slimming them down? Poor Libby waddles when she walks and neither of them can jump up on furniture.

Well, we have the new house now; sharing it with my boyfriend; my best friend and his girlfriend. I'm loving it, seems like the set for a sitcom or something.
We screened out a lovely home for Sonic the chi-pin and so far he is doing well. Still has a lot of energy but now has children to keep up with him. Not sure if any of you remember Lola, she was a husky mix that we rescued a few months back and she is now staying with my best friend a few blocks away who couldn't be happier with her. (She's been trying to take her from me ever since I got her, so it finally worked out LOL.)
Gatsby is here to stay, it's official. New name tags have been ordered for everybody as a fresh start. Only permitted to have little dogs at the new place... we're just grateful we were able to find somewhere that allowed pets at all. They absolutely LOVE the yard, and running around on the hardwood floors. The house's layout is very open. My favorite thing is when I'm laying in bed, and I can hear "pitterpitterpitter..thumpthumpthump" as the chi's run from the hardwood onto the carpeting and back and forth. It's music to my ears.
Excuse the emptiness of the indoor pixl; these were taken on moving day and I assure you we truly do own furniture; it just hadn't arrived yet LOL.

Gatsby was a unilateral chryptorchid neuter; had to have 2 baby teeth pulled (which i got to keep!); he's now on antibiotics and pain meds. We bought him a new collar today as an official welcoming to the family on the way home from surgery. Poor lil guy; we were slow at work near the end of the day so as we were closing I just carried him in my arm while I shut the place down and he just cuddled up. I took this pic with my cell after he was waking up..

We don't have internet transferred yet so I may be off of the forum for a little while; but rest assured my secret exchange is getting mailed tomorrow and I hope by the time it arrives I have it switched over so I can see pictures, LOL! Miss you guys.. hope everythings going well; its so hard to click 'new posts' and have so many pages to go through and such little time! <33
