My 12 year old daughter ( well she will be 12 on Thursday - I don't want to make my baby older than she actual is ) just got her hair cut - she had really long hair, about to her butt and now it is shoulder length. She had 12 inches cut off so it could be donated to Locks of Love which is a foundation that makes wigs for children that have lost their hair to illness. She was a little sad to see her hair go but the wig that is made from her hair will make one person VERY happy and after all it is just hair and it will grow back - very fast too at her age! So I am one proud Mommy that my daughter was brave enough to do this!

Tonight I am going to show her their website and let her see the before and after pics of kids who these wigs have helped. And also while I was on their website they have this really cute little pink teddy bear with the Locks of Love logo on it's foot so I ordered it and having it sent to her so she can keep it as a reminder.

My mum and I used to grow our hair out and donate, my aunt had chemo a lot when I was young and as a result had no hair we decided we'd grow ours out to help others.

I haven't done it in a while, but this story is pretty inspiring.

I will be sure to tell her what all of you are saying and yes I will post pics of her and her new do soon. I will do a little before and after. I am taking her and her BFF out to Medieval Times (it's a dinner show with horses and the "knights" joust and play other games - it's pretty fun!) tomorrow evening to celebrate her 12th birthday and then her BFF is spending the night so there will be plenty of opportunity for picture taking I am sure! It's going to be a loooonnnnnngggg weekend for Mom because everytime her BFF spends the night they are usually up until 3 or 4am giggling and talking and doing all that pre-teen girly stuff. LOL
