Default Finally broke down and did it

Yesterday I bought an electric wheelchair. My ankle joint is deteriorating just like the ortho doc warned me it would. He said to get rid of the pain he could fuse the whole ankle together or I could end up in a wheelchair. I don't know that I want to lose complete mobility of the ankle forever. It's hard enough now to cut my toenails the way it is. And I would have to always wear baggy pants if I can't point my toes a little to get the pants on. With the wheelchair, I will be able to go to the mall and shop, I haven't been there since I broke my ankle. And go to dog shows and the park and to the lake, places where there's a lot of walking or standing. So, while I would rather be up walking around, this will broaden where I can go and what I can do again.

Thank you so much Michelle. I was so hoping the doc was wrong and it would get better. It did for a bit, but now it's just getting more and more painful to walk. It's so frustrating, I was training for a half triathlon when I smashed up my ankle. And now just going to the store is too much. But now, maybe, I can start walking (wheeling?) the dogs everyday, too.

Thank you, Tori. I want to DO stuff, I need to be able to walk or get around to do it. I hate that lately all I do all day sit in front of my computer. I'm even going to go see my band in Hollywood and take my pictures sitting in the wheelchair. Did it before when I broke it in my cast.

Thank you Amanda. Your bil is upset he had it fused? I would think the limp alone would be much worse than the one I have now and I really like the limited movement I have. Getting it fused is not reversable, so once it's done, that's it.
