Default Having endometrial/uterine biopsy tomorrow.

And I'm scared to death. I hear it's quite painful. Not worried about the results, worried about the pain. Eeeek! Keep me in your thoughts that I don't get up from the dr's table and back out.

I sure will!
Girl, I had a hyst 5 years ago and it was the BEST gift I ever gave myself (after enduring years of nonsense) if your plans ever happen to turn that way.
Also, you may already know of hystersisters.com
GREAT forum for every type of women's health issues. Worth checking out even as a lurker.

Yeah, so many women have told me that too. That having a hysterectomy was a gift! I have the option right now of ablation, or hyster. But only if the biopsy comes back clean. If not, my only option is the hyster. But they don't expect to find anything. Already had an ultrasound. Found some thickening and a cyst. But nothing that can't be "fixed." I don't like the fact of going under general anesthesia, but I'm ready to get this all over with! Been going on to many years. I'll check out that site. Thank you so much, Karen! xxxxx

I'll definitely be keeping you in my thoughts, T. Since you've read it's painful, (I have no experience myself) hopefully you'll be able to take pain meds beforehand? I hope it goes as smoothly as possible for you, hun. Keep us posted. ((HUGS)) xxxx

Thank you so much, Paula! Yeah, they mentioned taking meds beforehand, but it won't really help. Without being to graphic, they take a needle type thing the length of a straw, insert past your cervix to your uterus, and draw out tissue for biopsy. EEEEEEEK!!!! I have heard people say it's the worst pain they have ever felt. I've had 2 kids natural child birth (1 c-section), and my Dr. said, "It won't be near as bad as that." I was like, "ummmmm, I'm not getting no bundle of joy after this, so it's no comparison." We both laughed. She said if I'm really panicky tomorrow, and insist, that they'll do a lidocaine block before they do it. But they don't normally do that. So we'll see how tough I feel tomorrow. I'll be okay, just nervous. And getting antsy about the surgery in about a week or two. I'll get through it, just blowing off steam. Thanks again, girl!!!! xxxxx

That's good that you have that option! I'd take pain pills, the lidocaine block, whatever you can, hey it can't hurt and will probably really help - that's how I see it at least. I hope it all goes by quickly for you, hun. Keep us posted on how you're doing when you have a chance. We'll be thinking of you. xxxxx

Haha!! Me too! I'm taking anything they'll let me. It is a quick procedure, shouldn't last more than 30 minutes from start to finish. The actual biopsy takes less than 5 minutes. In, and out for the most part. I'll pop in when I get home tomorrow and let you know if I ran away from the Dr's office screaming and crying. I told them if they hear some crazy lady screaming in the back, just ignore me. We all got a good laugh. The Dr. and nurses are wonderful there!!! So relaxed and laid back. She'll be doing the surgery too, so I'm in good hands. I'm such a terrible patient!!! Going through some medical training myself makes it a tough job on my Dr's.
