Default Part of the first chapter of "The Resistance", a story I'm writing.

Foreword:
Impasia is a dying race and land, trying to survive on their own without help from anyone but the remainders of their kind. Fighting for their lives, and planet, will they win this war between the people attempting to overthrow them, and kill them all? Well, no. They just can't let it happen. That's when they form a group out of the few kids left...

The Resistance.

Chapter 1: After the first war.
Kirsty looks around, these people are the only Impasians left the last of our kind. "We are the last of a dying race we need to survive and fight these monsters that destroyed our planet." She says.
Asher snorts. "Kirsty, we're outnumbered about a million to one. I don't think it's going to be much of a fight..."
"Yes but we have things they don’t have. We have magic we know the land, and we have animals they have never heard of." She says. Kirsty stands. "We can win this war if we just try."

Asher grumbles, "Yeah, right." but feels a little bit of hope eating into his bad mood. He supposes they could at least make an effort.
"Well that’s the most important thing we have, we will win this war. With careful planning we WILL win." Says Kirsty.
Asher looked up. "What do we do in the meantime?”
Kirsty glances at Asher. "We plan. Now I have a map of their strong hold. Here it is.” She says, pulling out a small map. "As you can see, the yellow is their strong hold and the rest is under protection. We are the brown part. They are weak from the North." Kirsty continues.
"We can attack from the north and east with magic, but not to the south and west. We cand send Asher’s sparrow in without much question about him. He would be like a spy to see what they're planning."
Asher eyes the map nervously, shifting from foot to foot and glancing back into the tree where he knew his sparrow was resting. "I guess that could work..." Asher says slowly. "But why not attack with magic from all sides? We could stun them and then lead a more forced attack." He shrugs nervously, looking away. "Just a suggestion..."
Rose walks up behind them grumbling. "I survived that stupid war... amazing." She grumbles to herself. Looking at the map wide-eyed, she confirms that she agrees with Asher. "Yeah, if we attack from all sides it's bound to do some damage." Rose says.
“No. The west and south are protected heavily with magic resistant barriers we need to attack from the North and east. They are the least protected because they are the farthest from the center. If we all attack from there it would be as easy as pie to kill the King. Killing the king would send the country into chaos. then from there we could take over and save our race!" Kirsty argues to Asher and Rose, stubbornly.
Asher sighs. "Yeah, okay. But I think we're assuming quite a bit if we think we can get anywhere NEAR the king..."
"Listen I can and will kill the king. I know I haven't told you this but one of my powers is to turn invisible by the time they catch me, the king will be dead. But the bad news is I will die as well. They will take me into the dungeon of the castle and I will be tortured for information. If I don't give it to the I will be killed." Kirsty says.
Asher gapes. "But we will be even less in numbers! Couldn't you sneak out invisibly as well?" Asher shuffles his feet. He doesn't want any more death, especially not one of his own kind.
'I'm sorry its nearly impossible as soon as the king goes down, I will appear and it will be all over. Except if I can sneak out of the prison with out being noticed and I have people to help me escape." Kirsty replies to Asher.
Asher grumbles, "Well, I'm certainly not going to just LET you die. Anyway... when do you think we'll be ready for all this?"
" There is only one way I can survive... give them false information, then we have to get out of there in ten minutes or less. As for when we'll be ready I think we'll be ready in just about one month." Kirsty says in a serious tone.
"One month!" Asher yelps in surprise. "That's, um... that's not long from now..." He looks up into the tree behind him and gestures with his hand, sending his sparrow fluttering down into his palm. "So what was this about some spying?"
Rose stares wide eyed. "...Month." She slowly sighs. "A month!? We have to wait a whole month!?" The sparrow flew out of Asher's palm at the yelling. "We can't wait that long! It has to be done SOON." Rose says.
Asher looks at Rose. "If we don't prepare, there's no chance we'll win. We'll have to be stronger and smarter than we ever have before. We need that month, if not more."
Kirsty sighs. "Well, anyway, about the spying. We should be able to find out what they are planning. If that’s not enough time we can always extend it. But listen, If I am to live you will need to be there when I escape which will be one day after I am captured at mid day."

____

Half of the first chapter. It's taking so long to write this! Once I'm done, I hope I can get this published.

Tell me what you think!

I think it will be a fantastic read.

However please be very careful how much of the story you post online, regardless of where you've posted, otherwise publishers will consider it already published and will not take it, unless its heavily modified. (Hope I haven't come across as a meany, just don't want you to become disappointed)

I work as a proof-reader in the UK and have had a handful of articles published and have heard it before. Also make sure you have had your manuscript proof-read to perfection before submitting it, publisher's are looking for manuscripts that they can send straight to the printers, or close to straight away.
