Ok peeps i need help quick. My youngest wants a kindle fire for christmas and i've got to make a decision and get it taken care of( sooo behind this year)
Anyhoo.. he first wanted an itouch but decided he wanted the fire because of it's larger size.
He wants to play games and get apps and surf internet and just basic kid stuff. No reading or anything How does it do with surfing, playing games and what not?

I LOVE MY Kindle FIRE!!! my grandkids and me play games...I read books, newspapers, listen to my music....you can view Documents and search the web.... just remember it doesn't have a 'service' like the iPad, its strictly WiFi.. I didn't want the monthly internet service charge (3G) so the WIFi is perfect for me... I have WiFi at home and just about everywhere has WiFi now...


I had an IPad but took it back within a week... just didnt like the size of the iPad but the FIRE is perfect size....

I love love love my fire. I love the smaller size too. I use it for playing games, reading, web surfing, although web surfing it what I use it for least. I probably use it most for games and reading. (I do have an kindle e-ink reader as well.) It's a great little device for media consumption so I think it would be perfect for what he wants it for. As Jan mentioned, just remember it's Wi-Fi only, no 3G. Good luck with your decision, Cheryl.

How do you get music on it? Can it be cds you already have or do you have to purchase music to listen to it on the fire?
He wants to play games and get apps so it sounds like it would be ok for that then.
He seen that you can watch movies on it and was kinda interested in that but i told him i dont know how that would work!? I suppose you would have to pay for it? Idk i'm still unsure. :/

You can put your own music on it, yes. It does not have a ton of space though and you can't add an SD card, just so you know. You can add an SD card with some of the other small tablet brands, so that might be something else you might want to consider. I personally don't use mine for music at all, I use my iPod for that.

As for movies, you can put movies on it or you can download them off Amazon. With Amazon they are streamable, so you need to be near WiFi to watch them if you do it that way. If you belong to Amazon Prime a lot of the movies are free. Otherwise it's about 2.00 or 3.00 for each movie, sorta like a rental. I don't really watch many movies on mine though, someone else may know more.

I just got mine last weekend, and haven't had time to really get to know it, but from what I've seen so far, I love it. I really, really like the size.

I won't be using mine for music, either. I do check my email on it and facebook when my husband is on the other pc, but I mostly got it for reading. I had a Literati e-reader, and didn't care for it much. The battery didn't hold up too well.

I need to know if you can surf any website, like youtube and watch videos and stuff..?? because i know that's onething he'll wanna do. PLus play with the apps and games. reading...is a big negatory. He wont use it for that. lol
I gotta hurry up and make a decision. :O Oh and do you guys know if theres any benefit of ordering it through amazon or not? if not ill go down to the best buys and get it for the same price.
