Default ~Our Rescues~

My father cared a great deal about all animals. He passed when I was young,
but his passion for living creatures passed on to me strongly. I have been
rescuing for as long as I can remember. Whether it was an injured bird, or
a lost dog, I did all I could to help. I love learning about all animals,
but especially dogs and cats. I groom, train and pet sit as well, in order
to help raise funds for our rescues. For the last 8 years I was involved
in rescuing more than ever. Hubby helped me a lot, and still does. We take
in abandonned, abused, neglected, ingured, lost, sick, etc. cats and dogs
of all breeds, sizes and ages. We get them vetted, spayed/neutered, rehab
and train, then through an extremely careful screening we find deserving
forever homes for these animals. Hubby and I are poor, but that has never
stopped us from not only rescuing, but spoiling all of the animals that
come though our doors. I sent off all of my rescues with a huge strater kit,
full of necessities which costs on average 500$. The veterinary costs are often
high as well, because most dogs and cats aren't healthy when they come in
here. I also never rush to adopt out an animal I take my time and make sure
the new owner is right. Therefore some rescues stay a long time, which is
also very pricey since I feed only the best food and buy new supplies and
necessities for each new rescue. In order to keep on doing what we are doing
hubby is working 2 jobs, and since I'm ill, I work from home doing a
few different things. This is a life style we chose and love, we will never
have it any other way. The rewards we get are undesribable. The pride, the
joy, the love... We literally get some animals that are sick and dying,
and recover thanks to our care. Some have behavioral issues that they
overcome with just patience, love and understanding. It is one of the most
difficult things to do to say goodbye when I place a pet in a new home,
but the tears I cry are pure joy. I keep in touch with all of my rescues,
even the tiniest kitties. All of them are equally important, and all are
treated as such. All of my rescues leave with a contract, stating that god
forbidd something changes in the life of the adopter and they can no longer
keep their pet, they MUST bring it back to me. I do this because no matter
how great and responsible a person is, life happens to the best of us, and
at times things are out of our control. I also keep contact and offer help
through out the pet's life in his/hers new home. The adopters can reach me
24/7 on my phone or by internet. We often do little rescue reunions at dog
parks as well.I guess I'm telling you guys all this because perhaps this is
something you did not know about my life. The work is 24/7, it is often hard
and challenging, my pockets are always empty. Yes I am very ill, but I will not
stop rescuing, I do it through the pain, I do it through the tears, I do it
through it all because I love animals and I do accept the fact that there
are some of them who are suffering. Therefore I will keep on trying my best
for them until I die.

Here are some of our rescues. If by any chance you are interested in any of
their stories, I will be more than happy to tell you.

This is Kissa, my Pom that passed away, with Ash and Kai the rescued kitties.
Ash was found outside, pregnant. Kai was found under a car covered in tar.

There are far too many homeless cats where I live, I neuter and release as many
males as possible, and take in kittens and pregnant moms.

Ash with her 5 babies, Oreo, Anastasia, Forest Gump, Nusha, and Zara.

Me with some of Ash's kittens.

Beautiful Anastasia

Misha was found in a black garbage bag near a dumpster, half alive about 6 weeks old. His sibling did not survive.
Here he is at 3 months old, doing much better.

Handsome Kai, he never got adopted out because he was too ill, and later died from kidney failure.

Beamer the kitten and Couzia the big cat. Beamer was found tummy full of worms, getting attacked by a large alley cat,
and Couzia was abandonned by our neighbour when he moved, left inside the apartment to die.

Lexus was found near beamer, both similar in age, my guess litter mates.
We lived in an area where cats were dumped every 1st of the month, when
people moved. It was mostly a student area, so when they moved on, the cats
were left to fight for survival.

Sparky the sweetest Chi to ever walk the earth, I'll post a couple pictures of him,
since there are so many Chi lovers on here.

Simba was found as a young kitten at -30 outside, holding on for dear life.

Mila is a Basenji, she was rescued from an abusive home.
It was extremely difficult not to keep her, considering this is my breed.

Fluffy and his brother Domino were extremely sick, my vet did not think they
would live. But I begged him to let me try and heal them, with his help,
insane amount of meds administered by me every 1.5 hours and lots of tlc
they both not only lived, but blossomed into beautiful spoiled sweeties.

Fluffy

Domino

Sharky was surrendered by a man who could not afford to feed or care for him, he was also abused.

Sharky showing off new commands he learned to hubby.

These poor guys were born outside, when they were found they were holding on
by a thread for dear life, mom was no where in sight.

Sputnik and Dima were surrendered by a back yard breeder.

This poor pregnant sweetie was also found outside, full of fleas.

These are her wonderful kittens, all happy and healthy.

Rocky being a good boy with the kittens.

This is Karli and I, she was a very sad girl, from an abusive home, yet she was extremely lovable.
I was very sick after a surgery, she was keeping me great company.

Tasha was found in a box inside the recycle bin.

Jasmine was surrendered by her owner, who could not care for her.

Sunny's mom was run over, we took him and his brother in,
they were both matted, full of worms and fleas, too wild,
it took a long time before they were ready for new homes.

Puggy the Pug, he was rescued from an abusive drunk.
This picture was taken when I first met him, I did
not even get a chance to take that nasty choker off
him, he surprised me with kisses.

Benji was kept in a cage 20 hours per day, his family
could not handle his energy level and had no time to
care for him.

Hubby decided Benji already found his forever home with us.
He is holding him the same way the African Pygmies carry
Basenjis to the hunt.

Alright I'll stop for now with this picture overload, haha.
It's just that I get so attached to each and every one of them,
I'm proud of how they live now and wish to share their success.
Everyone deserves a second chance, especially the most innocent,
beautiful creatures on earth, animals.

I so enjoyed seeing the wonderful pics of now happy furbabies.. we can make a difference if we choose to do so! It takes putting the safety and well being of other creatures ahead of ourselves. I don't mean to make it sound like an easy thing to do, cause it is not easy at all.. To be honest, it is almost impossible to not put self first for mankind in general. It is a choice whose rewards are truly amazing.

I think that I would really like to meet you, my friend.
