Trust is a must! Ive been with my partner for 10 years now, she supports me in everything i do or want to do, shes a second mommy to my baby boy who is now 12. met her when he was almost 2 years old. Partner in crime, and in everything else. Althow my family still after 10 years doesnt aprove we live a happy normal life. She is my rock when im down, specially these past weeks. Knows exactly what 2 say and what i need 2 hear to smile. She is a silly person, and im the quiet shy one complete oposites but hey it works out great. but definatly trust and loyalty is the key!

It's nice to read your replies because you all seem happy. It's really good to hear. I
agree, honesty & trust are extremely important. Another big one for me is RESPECT. I
don't handle the "I'm a man, you're just a silly woman" attitude very well. In my current
relationship of 9.5 years, we are equal. We respect each other and support each other.
Where I come from, the mentality is very different, a woman has a role as a cook and
mother, the man is the bread winner, and that is how "it must be". I feel that the
community here is a lot more open minded and understands that a woman can manage a
carrier as well if she chooses to, and a woman's value is not reduced if she never has
children. Anyways, getting carried away. Basically, equality, support, unconditional love
through sickness and health, honesty, loyalty and communication are qualities I admire in
my man.

And for those of you who have been mistreated in the past, I'm truly sorry.
I have been down similar roads, and the way I see it is if we did not suffer
we might not have such an appreciation for what we have now. Everything
happens for a reason. I wish you all lots of happiness!!!

3 words sum up my requirements... "Must love dogs."

I hit the jackpot... my Robbie whom I've been with over 2 years now is my soulmate. He completes me... actually understands me and my emotional/mental issues and is the best support I could ever ask for. And he's incredible with the dogs; he adores them as much as I do and since I don't drive; he is the key component to executing all of my rescue operations. Whether it's 15 minutes or 2 hours away like it'll be this Wednesday; he never complains when we're delivering a dog to it's new home. I just love the guy. =D

Good stuff Kat & Amanda! Very true.

I think when it comes to respect, it's extremely important to not only
have respect for your partner, but for yourself as well. If you have no
self respect you might be opening a door to mistreatment and abuse.

A good father is number one in my book. My current boyfriend is not my son's father (who is just a terrible person and has nothing to do with Jordan). He accepted him completely, loves him fully, and treats him like his own.

Other than that, a man who can support me emotionally as I can be unstable at times. One who can take care of himself. One who is respectful and has good morals. Who can be weird with me and also have a serious conversation. One who doesn't hide things from me and knows when I ask something, I want the truth no matter how bad it may hurt me. One who is loyal to his family and puts them above all.

I got lucky when I found that person and I can't wait to marry him.

Awh, thank you! Hopefully within the next 1.5 years. Kids were more important to us than getting married so we had our daughter first.
