Homemade French Vanilla Cafe Recipe
With the weather getting colder, I thought I'd share my favorite flavored coffee mix recipe. I love General Food's/Maxwell House International French Vanilla Cafe, but I love it a little too much (which definitely adds up $ wise), so I went in search of a homemade version online. The amounts in parentheses are my modifications, as I like my coffee with plenty of cream and sugar.
1/3 cup instant coffee, or less if you prefer
1 cup instant dry milk powder
1/2 (1) cup powdered cofee creamer
1/3 (2/3) cup sugar
1/4 cup instant vanilla pudding mix powder (important because it helps the mixture dissolve fully/not leave a "sludge" in the bottom of the cup)
Measure all ingredients into a dry bowl. You can just mix it with a fork, but I find it works best to powder it using an immersible stick blender (or you could pour all ingredients into a regular blender). Store in an airtight container.
For a standard size coffee mug, I use a rounded 1/4 cup of the mixture, and then fill to the top with hot water.
This also makes a nice Christmas gift, in a jar with a festive bow.
