Where I live we had a tropical Super Storm Cell hit yesterday morning.

It came out of no-where, all of a sudden and OMG it was amazing. Thunder shaking the house, literally 1,000's lightning strikes (can't remember if they said it was 2k or 4k of them), cars floating down the streets 5 minutes from here with water levels over their hoods and power blackouts all over, roofs blown off and massive trees down.

I felt "uneasy" whilst the skies were blue & sun shining and refused to go to Baseball because despite HWMNBO's castigations, I knew it would come, and come it did.

So, nothing for it, I went back to bed and slept from about 10a.m. while mother nature lashed and thrashed and did her worst. I have a sleeping condition, and nothing, absolutely nothing stops me from sleeping albeit this was a light sleep as I was worried about the the furry ones & my African Grey Parrot.

The house was a rocking & a rollin', it's up on stilts high in the air as many houses here are and the thunder was deafening .... the pups and I hunkered down in bed and when thunder was right overhead they'd sit up, glare at me, I'd say, "It's ok darlin'" and they'd throw their little heads back down again in disgust at being disturbed by this inconvenient earth shattering noise that was loud enough to wake the dead and even broke windows in our Courts building 5 minutes away.

Here's some pics if you can be bothered seeing an Aussie summer storm - you'll note that whilst all this goes on over here, it's still around 70 degrees and we all wear t-shirts, or next to nothing

Oh, and we've had another one this morning with more coming lunchtime, oh joy, oh bliss ...

Hi LS, well I guess it would be to some people but we locals are pretty used to fierce tropical storms. I was terrified of being alone with the 4 Chis when it hit thinking they'd all be hysterical, but was absolutely amazed by the could care less attitude & behaviour - there was NO nervousness, no shaking, no crying or whining, just disgust at being disturbed, bless their little wet noses! So very, very proud of them!

What's going on with the weather lately? Nice to see you posting, even if it isn't about the best of things. I'm glad you are all ok though! I looked at some of the pics... They were scary and some beautiful. It makes me glad for the boring weather we have here; it's never very nice but it's never very bad.

Saying that, when I lived in Newcastle we did once have a flash flood where we got enough rain in half an hour to make all the cars float down the street. We later saw a guy taking his dog for a swim! It was mid summer so I was in a vest top and jeans and caught walking home in it!

It sure would be scary, if for example one of those massive trees fell on
someone's home, etc. But I agree the lightning pictures are impressive and
captivating. Your pups obviously fed off your calmness and therefore did not
panic, it's good. Was your home or your things affected in any way?

Smiles, but Melissa, you got to put up with grey skies & rain, is it 363? days of the year, you poor things. Whenever it even looks like rain, I take myself right to sleep, the whole world stops for moi

Thanks LS, our house is fine and no damage but HWMNBO is going to get yet another annual bollicking for failing to empty my gutters - even after I bought him an all singin' all dancin' USA robotic gutter cleaner, AND even threatened to get a little man from the village to do it (that usually attacks his ego to a point where he immediately springs into action). I think he's worried about climbing up to 60' in the air so I'll just have to do it, he can stand at the bottom of the ladder to catch me the silly old fool.

Uh oh, here comes our 2nd storm for the day and it's only 11 in the morning, thunder's rolling, lightnings going and the rain will soon bucket down. Pups are MIFFED, Sunday is their day of playing with their Boston Terrier buddies whom they haven't seen for 2 weeks now so momma is on thin ice it would seem.

Wow, the news headlines just said it was 22,000 lightning strikes!

You can see from some of those pics it was almost dark at 10am and within an hour of the storm passing we're back to radiant sunshine & blue skies and with the high temps people's wet clothes actually "steam" lol

Dee...I am glad you and your chis are alright...that is scary stuff for sure....the weather seems to be stirred up all around the world...we had mega winds and lightening last week, nothing compared to what you had, but enough to make me worry about the trees coming down...hope you got those gutters cleaned out
