I work for a very large corporation here in the U.S. I have been there since receiving my degree 26.5 years ago!

The team that I manage currently manages the creative work of teams who execute our consumer marketing campaigns. So, brand work, loyalty program work, direct mail, print (magazine) advertising, email and digital work including our website and apps.

It is a VERY creative company and this time of year our stores are very busy helping our consumers prepare for the holidays!

I have been in sales, product development, licensing and marketing and advertising. There are about 4,000 employees in my building. It is like a small city!

I stay at home with bailey and help my mom with cleaning and what not. I have a few severe disabilities and a bunch of medical problems so I can not work. I try to go out a lot with family and friends just to get out of the house - though sometimes that is extremely hard when the pain is so bad I can't get out of bed. Oh well that's life

This is an interesting thread. Wow Jan, that is quite the commute! I don't know how you do it!

I left school not really knowing what I wanted to do, so I went to University to study Psychology, which I really enjoyed and miss doing now. It's a lot more maths and biology based that people realise and a lot of people dropped out. I'm not a fan of maths but I quite liked the biology. Finishing that I didn't really know what I wanted to do so because it was the only thing I could think of that didn't cost a stupid amount of money to study I went for a postgraduate teaching degree specialising in Early Years (3-7) with masters credits. I never expected to get on the course because there were only 20 places. 400 people applied and 70 were given interviews. I really enjoyed teaching, especially the creative aspects of it but there were a lot of parts I didn't like about it. I left and did supply teaching for a long while, stopped counting at 40 Teaching interviews. I kept getting good reviews but there are just too many teachers and not enough positions.

Eventually I got fed up of the instability and when I moved out of the city centre the supply stuff got few and far between so I applied for other jobs and eventually got this one. I now work for Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs updating people's cases, making sure we have all their information, reconciling the years to send out any over or under payments and then making sure they're on the right code so that the right amount of tax gets deducted.

I like working with my team, we have a laugh and I like getting away from the stress of teaching, taking work home with me etc. It's only a temporary contract so who knows what I'll do after this.

I always wanted to do something creative like interior design, I used to draw outfits when I was younger and wish I could make them, I always loved writing but most of all I always wanted to be a singer.

My jobs so far have been: Model booker, personal shopper, image consultant, runway stylist and magazine stylist.
I also worked in a multi-brand showroom on sales for 4 seasons in Milan.
How exciting! I would have loved to have done all or any of those things! Especially a personal shopper! What do you do now? I'm sorry to hear that the country you live in is so fashion backwards!

Great thread! It's nice to get to know everyone a bit better--especially the newer members.

As for me, I am a retired Senior NCO from the US Air Force. It was a challenging and
interesting career, the highlight being a year at an isolated remote location in Greenland.
I had a variety of assignments in Information Management and topped off my career as an
editor of Scientific and Technical Reports. I am now a Disabled Veteran as well as a retiree.

I volunteer as a peer counselor in personal finance, and I love doing it.

Most importantly in my life, I have raised a lovely daughter who is now 23 years old.
Being a single mother was much more challenging than anything I did in the military--and far more rewarding

I am a licensed massage therapist/holistic health coach and run a small wellness centre. I work mainly with pain management and rehabilitation. Most of my clients suffer from idiopathic pain (otherwise stated, they're doctor says "I have no idea what's wrong with you, go see Marty").
I also have a list of clients from all over who want to live a healthier, happier life and I coach them through making their own right choices in order to do that. For some it's losing weight, for others it's rekindling their passion for their job (or finding a job their truly passionate about), or whatever it is that they are meant to do as their "true path." Some of these people come to my office, but most I've only ever spoken with over the phone! I love being able to help people live their lives to the fullest! It is truly rewarding to me!
