Hubby was passed over for a promotion yesterday because they could pay the other guy less money. He is so ticked off right now and I am really trying to be supportive. I am very proud of him that he did not give his two weeks notice or quit when he was passed by for the promotion because 10 years ago he would have let his temper get the best of him and worried about the ramifications later.
I am trying to let his anger take its course and just talk to him when he needs to talk and try to make him smile when I can but I have to say I myself am very aggravated that they passed him over for the promotion. We were counting on him getting it because he has the most seniority and has been told that he had the promotion and honestly we could really use the money the promotion would have brought.
In the end though I am thankful he has a job and we are surviving on his salary. Hopefully my job hunt will come through soon and things will get easier. I keep telling myself that we can handle anything as long as we do it together.
I guess I am just venting because I don't want him to know how much I am upset too because right now I would rather him deal with his feelings and not worry about mine. I love him so much and I know in a couple days his anger will be gone and he will find a way to make the best of the situation. I just need to find ways to keep his mind off of it as much as possible until that happens.
Sorry to hear that! I completely understand how you both feel but I think everything happens for a reason and better things will come his way! Bryan was going to take a "better" job and go from Toyota to Lexus with an increased pay, but I had a bad feeling about it and we passed on it. 6 months later, the new assistant service manager was laid off. Phewww thank god he didn't take it! Always have to stop and take a moment to look at the silver lining!! Keep you heads up, xox!
I agree with Zorana that things happen for a reason, and there is something better on the horizon for you guys. My bf was going to leave his position as a 2nd shift manager for a job driving for a local bread company that paid more and was better hours, but decided against it for one reason or another. 6 months later that bread company decided to outsource their drivers to another company and the current drivers were offered to keep their jobs... at a $2/hour PAY CUT!!! We're now breathing a sigh of relief that he did not take that job!
It always helps to vent and get things off your chest. It makes it easier to deal and support hubby! I've learned that. I hope things get better. Hopefully he will get the next promotion. I am also looking for a job right now and hubby has a seasonal job, so in January we aren't sure what is going to happen. So I completely understand the frustration and need for funds. I will be thinking of you guys and hope things get better quickly.
Sorry to hear that, Amy Jo. I know what it's like to go through some tough times; it's even worse when you feel led on, when it involves money especially. Vent away; for me, just typing out, reading everything to myself helps me feel like the weight is lifted if I'm going through hard times. As I always say, make sure to make time to pamper yourselves. Make a romantic dinner with candlelight; even if it's just Ramen LOL. Just take time to just focus on your own well being; deep breathing exercises are great too. Good luck to you and hubby!!
It seems like this always happens...giving the other guy that will work for less money. But sometimes it might be "better" that he didn't get it.
I told my husband to pass on the job in Ft. Worth for many reasons, even tho it's a lot better pay and closer to family. That company that offered him the job lays off people easily and they said they have a chance they may lay him off after 3 months. Instead, we just stay where we are and he got hired into the company that he been working at for the last almost 3 years (he was a contractor) with $3 less pay than before but with lots of benefits and a yearly bonus. But anyway, we are surviving too, but I think we are happier here than if we were to move.
I just wish you good luck on the job hunt tho! I'm hoping everything will turn out fine.

Last night was a lot better because he is letting go of the anger. I think it helped that he had to drive a float in the Christmas parade so he saw that even though he was upset there is a lot of beautiful in the world.
Thank you for letting me vent. I agree it does help to just write things down sometimes.
