Oh YES cats LOVE leather, those little butts!
For those who do have cats, if you play with your cat a lot, keep the nails
trimmed super short, and have scratch posts and other outlets for them, it'll
usually mean your couches are safe. We often have cats here, even kittens,
no issues whatsoever. Although my mother has a very bored cat who doesn't
have many outlets, and her couches do have scratch marks.

We have a leather sectional and when my youngest 2 chis were puppies they did attempt to chew on an area but I caught them in time so they didn't do damage. I also sprayed that area with Bitter Apple spray (it didn't harm the couch) and they haven't done anything so far!

My cats might just be bad.

We have a HUGE scratching tree on the main level of our house and right beside it is a little ottoman with their food dishes on top. The ottoman is destroyed. You can see the quick in most of their nails so we're able to keep them fairly short too.

Thankfully they've left our couches alone for the most part. I bought Odie a little couch for Christmas and one of our cats has left it alone but I've caught the other scratching it a few times. I've used the feliway pheromone plug in before to help de-stress our one cat when we moved and I might use it again when we get our new couch.

When Odie was a puppy she chewed a tiny hole in the couch and we used the bitter apple spray and it worked wonders. She never tried chewing it again.

This thread makes me feel much better!! We are in so need of a new couch and loveseat but it has to wait until finances are better. I have been wanting a leather couch for a while but I was afraid Jaxx would scratch it up.

It took me forever just to get hubby to let Jaxx in our VW Jetta that has leather seats. I kept telling him that we keep Jaxx's nails ground so he wasn't going to scratch the seats but he babies that car.
