Years ago I made a $25 loan to someone in a developing country...my $25 along with other donors allowed a person to fulfill his or hers dream of independence...my money has been loaned and repaid many times over...I have never lent to someone who has not repaid the loan...$25 to me is insignificant in the long haul, but can make a big difference in someone elses life...I fully support this organization for the good work they do....Kiva

I hadn't seen Dee's post...I wish I had as I am a long time donor with Kiva....I love seeing the repayment schedule...sometimes its in cents ...imagine how proud the recipient must be to be able to repay the money they have received....I enjoy going thru the applicants and picking out who I will be helping out ( albeit in a very small way ) the next time around.

Definitely a great organization Kathleen, very clever. I also heard about it from Di, she is very fond of it too.

Hiya, I just made my 94th loan today - I use a float of about <> $300 and when people pay back I just draw down the balance & use it to fund other new loans!

It's the best charity in the world for my heart & soul - (Kiva.com) ... I've always believed that you do NOT give a man fish, you BUY him a fishing rod and TEACH him how to use it, he will have fish for life.

Too many charities give handouts willy-nilly and ppl become dependent on hand-outs, collapse in a screaming heap when they stop. Kiva is definitely the duck's nuts in every respect, and in 94 loans, I've never had a single, solitary default or lost a solitary penny
