I've got a lot of issues, both physical and mental. My animals have always helped. On days I can't get up or hurt too much..I still force myself up to feed them and water them all. Douglas won't let me sleep all day.. he eventually comes to lick my face, concerned.

My ferrets watch me like a hawk as well. They are so nurturing.

Melissa, I posted a few weeks ago that the only time I really feel calm at the moment is when I am at home with my fur babies. I have had lots of issues going on recently and I sympathise with you greatly. I know you didn't post for sympathy, you posted because its good to talk, and talking about our dogs is the best therapy there is.

That was a beautiful and encouraging post for many who have depression. Sometimes we do not need actual pills to feel better. I have one human child but I consider myself a mom of two. I cannot remember life around here before May, which was when our doorbell rang with a box full of joy. Our dogs who are also our children are furry miracle workers of for our mental well being on 4 legs.

When I was studying pharmacy, I had little Gino! While everyone was out partying, I usually skipped it to stay in with him and cuddle/study- thankfully bc I passed, lol!
They are such a huge part of our lives, it's hard to explain to people who don't have doggies, they just don't understand how much joy these littler monkeys bring us!

""A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself."

I've always loved that quote. People who have never owned dogs really don't know what they're missing. It saddens me that they can't comprehend loving an animal as much as a human. They're as much a part of the family as any human is in my eyes.

I'm so glad that Ike was able to help your hubby. It is amazing what they can do for us.

my gang do the same for me. I truly think dogs add years to our lives, just think
of the stress they relieve by making us laugh, when we pet them we feel more
calm and happy, they add to our physical health as well by forcing us to walk.
Dogs are little miracles, and I'm thankful for mine every single day. I wish you
good health Melissa, both physical and mental. Please don't be shy to pm me
anytime, it's good at times to talk to someone who is going through similar
things. Hugs my friend. And give those great pups of yours big kisses, ok?
Thanks. I give them hundreds of kisses and I must tell them I love them before I go to bed. I'm here any time you need to talk to. I love your new siggy btw

My father was told he had lung cancer 6 yrs ago. Then he fell and broke his hip and had to have surgery. That didn't work so they had to do a hip replacement. Then he got shingles in the eye. An infection set in and he lost his vision. Depression was starting. Everyone was having to do everything for him. His wife came home one day with a toy poodle puppy. That puppy knew my dad needed her. His whole day is taking care of that dog. It is something he can accomplish by himself. Where ever he is, Glynnis is right beside him. Drs quit trying to understand why my 82 yr old dad hasn't been taken from us, but I know why..... It's the dog!
That's an amazing story. Thanks for sharing! I'm glad your dad is still with us. I think the mind is an amazing thing and it really is extraordinary what dogs and other animals can do for our mental state. I think a sense of purpose is such a strong thing to keep someone going. I'm so glad he got that puppy.

I used to have ferrets. One of my favourite pets was one I had that had birth defects, she was such a sweet girl. I'm sorry to hear you have a lot of problems but I'm glad your babies give you strength.

I remember that post. I'm not surprised with your job! I'm glad your fur babies give you some respite from the stress. Exactly...I didn't want sympathy I wanted to put out there just how thankful I am to my babies because they really have made all the difference. I'm always here if you need to talk though.

Thank you. I partly wanted to share it because I know there are a lot of people struggling with depression on this board. After all it is much more common that people realise. I'm so glad Kalisee has kept you happy and brought joy to your family.
