Hi everyone! I've been a bit quiet on the forum lately, I'm currently living a two hour commute away from work so my days are really long. I'm living with my grandma, so Ruby has her, her dog Daisy and her Bengal cat Indi for company all day, which is great. When I find a place closer to work I think I'm going up have to get her a little brother or sister for company.

Anyways, I'm in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend this year, I've had to move interstate for work and as I'm on a 12month contract there's no guarantee I'll be able to get another job down here at the end of the year. we decided as I might end up back in Newcastle, or even somewhere else in Aus it didn't make sense to spend $1000s to move all our stuff here only to have to pay $1000s again to move it back, or somewhere else. So he stayed in Newcastle and Ruby and I moved to Melbourne.

It's really hard, I miss him like crazy. Especially on days like today; I'm home from work sick and really wish he was here to look after me. we talk on the phone every day and we send texts messages all the time. Our relationship is actually stronger as a result of the distance, but it's the lack of human contact that gets to me the most. I get one hug a day from my grandma when I say goodnight and that's it. I miss cuddles more than anything!

And that's where Ruby has been the biggest help, she's my little rock! She knows when I'm feeling down and will be even cuddlier than usual. I couldn't imagine life down here without her. It's amazing how someone so tiny can fill my heart with so much love!

Just now she fell asleep she was chewing on her oldest, and most mangled toy, on my belly. Hehehe I tried to upload a pic, but the app won't let me. Grrr.

Aww you poor babe, I wish I could hug you! Don't be sad, you can get through
this. Is it maybe possible for your honey to come visit you one weekend?

Thank you LS *hugs*. He actually came down for a very quick visit last weekend, it was so great! But it's made being apart even harder this week. It was so good to see him and Ruby interact again, she hasn't seen her dad since December and she got so excited to see him she peed all over the floor! Something she hasn't done for months. Hahaha she didn't want to leave his side either which was really sweet.

I'm planning a trip home in about a months time, which will be really good as I'll get to see all my family too. I just have to keep telling myself it's only for another 10 months, and if we can squeeze in visits at least once a month I think the year will fly by.

You are strong girl. I'm glad you got to see him at least for a bit.

Have you guys talked about what happens if you get offered a position/another
contract at the end of your current contract? Would he then move? What about
his work?


And how do you find your current work? Are you happy?

LS I loooove my job! I graduated uni two years ago and I'm finally using my degree which is fantastic. We have talked about it, and he can pretty much walk into a job anywhere in Australia and he is happy to move anywhere for me. The next job I get will be permanent and guaranteed for as long as I want it (as much as a job can be!) and it will also be easier to get a job once I have a few more years experience so we won't have to move unless we want to. If that makes sense? My brain is definitely not running at full capacity today so I'm not sure if I'm communicating in understandable sentences! Hehehe

Oh good! thanks so much, I have no doubts at all we'll make it work and be stronger as a couple at the end. That said, it doesn't make it any easier when we're going though it, but we know its going to be worth it.
