I bought a new product to try with Dahlia.
Its a natural mint and chlorophyl(sp?)
oral care kit to melt the plaque and tartar
off their teeth.She really liked the minty smell
and I put some in her water(1 tsp per bowl).
Im going to apply the gel to her teeth at bedtime
and let it work over night and brush in morning.
Ill let you know how it goes and works.

I use this for Pip and Roo and the gel works really well. It depends on how much plaque they have, how long it will take to get it off. I think it's once a night for 30 days and then twice a week thereafter. Both Pip and Roo had dentals last year so they didn't have much, but what they did have it slowly softened and you could brush it away. Good luck!

i have had something like that for mine, can't remenber what it was called, but mine would'nt drink the water that i had added the stuff too lol.

I'd say so, yes, but you will still need to brush. It's a really good product, it actually loosens the plaque to the point where you can brush it away. I hope it work well for you, beats having to have them put under for a dental for sure. That's what I'm hoping to avoid again. When I got Pip and Roo their teeth had a fair amount of plaque and they were only 2 years old, so they must be prone to it. I had dentals for them both right away and now I use this (and brush their teeth daily) and, so far, so good.

Wow my booger chi Dahlia fought it all the way tonight.
She just clamped her jaw shut.
So I had to flip her on her back like when I do her nails
with the pedipaws and she got a gel bath!
Im going to use a small shringe tomorow night
and see is that works better.What a pickle!!
I took her food and water out for a bit(30mins)
and she looked pissed over that too.
Now I know why a lot of chis are toothless.Stubborn!!

LOL. I'm lucky as mine tolerate it really well now. Initially Roo would try and bury her head, hehe, but now she's ok with it. I think they actually have grown to like the taste even. Funny that. Maybe it will get easier with Dahlia over time, here's hoping.
